Please do your self a favor if you don’t need amplification on your Tundra but need a good sound.

**Tundra with out JBL sound system**

I replaced the 3 front tweeters on the dashboard with these 3.5 kicker units and men the sound improved about 3 times- nice full details sound inside cabin with no amp.
I really like the base/ low’s coming out from the side factory doors speakers they are 2 OHMS- don’t need to change unless you add an Amp.

Most aftermarket speakers are 4 OHms- and would not work with the 2 Ohms wiring on the tundra- except tweeters.
They will dramatically decreased the sound.

Kicker 46CSC354 Car Audio 3 1/2" Coaxial Full Range (3) speakers

Amazon or Crutchfield are the best prices

    Here is the wiring..

Center speaker -I only used the outside wires- at the adapter

Left and right speaker- there are only 2 wires + & - center wires on adapter.

    Very quick replacement- works amazingly

There is no adapters on the market yet to plug and play- little work on the dashboard wires-
    You will enjoy.

I'm curious how you wired the replacement speakers - the stock center channel looks like it's a dual voice coil.

Right, I know what the stock harnesses look like. My question is how you wired up the 3 new speakers; you replaced the 6 ohm corner speakers and a dual 8 ohm voicecoil center speaker with 3 single 4 ohm voicecoil speakers... Just curious how you wired those up, specifically the center channel, as I'd love to do the same.

Maybe I need to get into it to understand better but I’m still confused on the center dash. I’ve replaced all speakers except the center. All my door speakers are replaced with 4 ohm and work awesome but I did change the HU. Im running some fairly high end front door components and some Morels in the rear that are pricey but great.
I want to complete this and do the center. Can you dumb it down for me. Lol

Your system is a JBL on the Tundra limited and has an amp already reason the 4 Ohms speakers works great.

My Tundra does not have the JBL logo. Runs no amplifier- CrewMax off-road.

When removing the small center speaker
Dual coil - you will be forced to only used the 2 outside wires from the plug adapter. Tap into them for testing.
Factory plug has 2 positives and 2 negative- you only need one set of wires for your new center speaker
    Good luck.
I had the 2015 4Runner with the JBL system and sounded tremendous. Adding better speakers is even better!!

Unless they changed it you have a small amp underneath passenger seat. When I upgraded the amp and speakers I did not mess with the dash. I can't even tell they are there. To me it would be a waste of time and money. If anything I would just disconnect. Xovers in sail panels are much better location wise.

I believe I understand. Two positives and two negatives to power the “dual coil”. I only use one positive and one negative and cap the others.
I don’t have the JBL. What I did was change the HU to a more powerful Kenwood. I changed out door speakers and front and back and put a Kicker hideaway sub in. The speakers work great.
Thanks, I’ll change the center out and report back.

You are right-there is a small amp underneath the seat -little amplification to the truck system but not as good as the aftermarket ones.
Once you add an Amp the games changes for better.
My sharing for tweeters replacement was only for an improvement on the sound without changing much on the stock system. Maybe I should explained more. Thank you.

I believe the limited edition come with a better stereo and JBL speakers- usually there is a logo on the dashboard or doors showing this upgrade.

To get the JBL in the Limited you have to get the (Limited Premium Package) otherwise you end up with the (Premium Audio with Dynamic Navigation)

Why don’t you think you can push 4 ohm speakers with stock wiring?

I am an audiophile and have many good speakers on my garage from other replacements and upgrades. I let the cars go when sold or traded but I usually keep the good speakers I add to the vehicles - Family of 5
The high’s -low’s and pitch’s must be present on my sound systems

I didn’t want to add Amp to the tundra and played around to find the 2 Ohms factory played better than my best 4 Ohms -I was not happy with the testing on this set up. The sound on my testing was not satisfactory for my ears.
I tested 4 different sets 6.75 - some 7” inch even a 6x9 at the front doors -extra work is needed there to fit.
I will on the future run my wiring to the truck replacing all speakers and adding a good amp to it.
I am tempting to get the $1000.00 JL POWER Sub-woofer nothing but good reviews and fits behind the rear seat.

I really have minimal car audio experience, but I know that the factory non JBL speakers are not cuttin' it.

My interpretation was mostly power to the speaker-not the wires itself. If it works for you using 4 Ohms speakers- that is a good sound accomplishment, for my case it would not cut it. Thank you

Agreed, I don’t understand how we pay 40,000 for new vehicles and the speakers are paper cones. When I began installing the tweeters on the dashboard on the Tundra , the sound improved dramatically I guess helping the side factory speakers to not work hard and sound as bad as the do. What it did on my case it spread the sound in a full surrounding inside the truck and it is a fully loaded sound environment with no additional amplifier replacements.
Now, I wonder if the use better speakers on the 2019 Tundras !!

Really? That's interesting. I guess that's how they balanced out the ohm loads.

Yes. Your new headunit doesn't have a specific speaker output for a center channel. You would have to tie into one of the other speakers.

In your setup, I wouldn't worry about trying to incorporate the center channel. Its one of those things that would need a DSP to tune it correctly. IMO, of course.
