If you're just using a rag, definitely add some heat with a heatgun or hair dryer... and chemicals. Automotive grease/wax remover is mild enough not to damage the clear coat and works fairly well. Heat is the biggest help with that hardened goo though.

Well, per normal, grille needs more work, looks way better in picture. And, hood release clips are toast. But all is not lost, just a set back as should be expected. Here’s a sneak peak, and the boy’s 05 4R that he’s never driven...yet.

I’m gonna go against the grain here and not recommend plasti-dip on the grille. But if you do, don’t primer because that will be the hard part to get off. I was not happy with the finish on the inset surfaces. The faces were fine, but my attempt to clean up those hard to reach places led to instant failure in general. And, all day getting the primer off :)

I do have a set of new safety latch bar retainer clips, however...

Since you are coating on plastic, I wouldn't recommend any primer. Instead use a good "adhesion promoter" prior to coating, no primer. I'd scuff up the surface prior then use grease/wax remover to clean before adhesion promoter.
This is my choice for adhesion promoter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MP1D3KZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8
This is my choice for bedliner but there are many good ones to choose from, has a relatively mild texture: https://www.amazon.com/Seymour-20-041-Truck-Bed-Coating/dp/B018Y3JRBC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2ZWAAET33DGSA&dchild=1&keywords=seymour+bedliner&qid=1618269860&sprefix=seymour+bedliner%2Caps%2C275&sr=8-1

I think anytime you plastic dip a grill, it is mandatory you fuck up the first time

Is that liner on the 4runner? It looks great! Is it pretty gritty to the touch?

it is liner. The truck was completely trashed and repaint was cost prohibitive. I had a reference to a shop my buddy used for his 80’s blazer, so I got to see it before pulling the trigger. This stuff is like heavy orange peel. UV resistant and looks new with a pressure wash. Not for everyone to go full truck. But it worked great in this case.

edited for a couple of pics of the 4R this am.

While carpet dries not fast enough, detail on the plastic.

I would get both. The CG Plastic Restorer is bulletproof on the exterior. Like a wax but not. The CG super cleaner is just that. Super good.

Maybe and likely out of production, but this sub plug and play is an awesome addition to JBL setups.

    Still loving this thread!

How hard was it to get the carpet clean? My Sequoia is pretty bad and I'm debating just replacing it.

With carpet cleaner soap and a pressure washer, maybe 90% good for 16yrs old. It's not new, but seems that way because it was bad before. Lots of brown water running down the drive at first. Definitely worth it if you have access to a pressure washer.

Thanks @300BLK. It has its little dings here and there and the tonneau cover decided to start failing with it's clear coat, but I like it.

I too believe this is a good fit with the factory setup. Nothing to blow anyone away but updates the sound quality quiet well, more so using BT than the radio.

Something I did to eliminate the rattle coming from the seat bottom (packing from my bed cover) -

I learned the hard way that this stuff sprays like an airless commercial sprayer, so expect a shit ton of volume and over spray and pull back.

    EDIT: don't use this shit.

Not sure if you have a spare rim, but someone on offerup is selling a method 701 for $125, he wants $200 but got him down to $125

A TRD Off-Road sticker adds a lot to the look. Plus you get an extra 30 hp.264B8D23-5952-4EB6-9FAA-007BAF5E3D48.jpg

Link below, I just bought one from someone on offer up today for 125$. Two different sellers came thru.

Check out this item on OfferUp.

I just couldn’t spend 280$ on a rim (rim + tax) to just have it under the truck. They get trashed down there.
