I see a kit online for Tundra daytime running lamps, they seem like they could be useful or at the very least cool looking. Does anyone have these? How do they look in person? Are they worth the expense? Do the 3rd gen Tundras have LED DRL's?
So many questions, what are your thoughts on the subject? I like a lot of the Tundra series episodes on headlight revolution, I don't think they've done one on these yes which makes me think the DRL's aren't worthy...

I just found these exact same lights on Amazon for $150 and free shipping. 2 reviews. Both reviews good.

I personally like these. Whether or not they are worth the $$ they charge, that's a million dollar question.

Do you have the link to where you found this?

It is a decent price. The Amazon seller, Car-Lab-Shop, is based in Taiwan and most of their reviews are good. Shipping time wait was an issue for some, but they still liked the lights when they got them. Certainly very cool and unique setup. Something else to think about.
Side note: Apparently the middle man fee can be 200 bucks if you want them now. Wouldn't be surprised if somebody is selling these in LA metro area for $150 or so.

My opinion is that offroad lights are a better investment. DTRL don't provide much extra light at night, mainly for looks. Offroad lights like LED light bars provide tons of light.
There is a safety aspect with them i guess but your orange parking lights are always on when the lights are off and truck is on anyway. Atleast i think all 2nd gens have this feature.

These are being marketed as a safety feature.

"Be seen! With an all-new, high-powered LED aftermarket automotive Daytime Running Light system by Rostra, you're sure to get noticed! Rostra DRLs are offered in both a universal and customized design. Every unit includes a color-matched set of LED lamps to ensure uniform color. Trim bezels and bracketry are also included to ensure secure fitment presenting an OEM finish to your vehicle. Each DRL assembly is powered by a waterproof ballast module that ensures clean, stable voltage to the LED lamp allowing each LED to reach their maximum lifetime potential.
Be safe! The safety benefits of having a vehicle equipped with Daytime Running Lights are presented in numerous studies from around the world. The greatest safety increase is with offset frontal impacts, commonly occuring when a driver turns onto a side street crossing the path of an oncoming vehicle. Several countries and states legally require DRLs and studies have shown as much as a 38% reduction in offset frontal impacts as a result of daytime running lights becoming mandatory. Discounts on your vehicle's insurance policy may apply as well!
Be amazed! Rostra's Daytime Running Lights are a cut above the rest for several reasons. During the daytime, the 1 Watt LEDs are on at full intensity so that even in direct sunlight, the car's visibility is greatly enhanced. When the headlights are powered on, the ballast module reduces the power of the LEDs minimizing any visual discomfort to other drivers. When using the turn signal, the LEDs will dim to increase visibility."

There's no doubt the LED DRL's are noticeably bright during the day, most higher end GM products and luxury cars of late utilize them, I think they look amazing on most cars and trucks in just not so sure how they'll look in that bezel location. I've seen an install video on a 2014 and they look ridiculous. I tend to agree with viper, for the price there are so many other upgrades to be done that do more for the vehicle long term than DRL's. That price of $150 is amazingly low, they have to be a cheap Chinese knock off or something. I noticed the part ends in TUNB which means it comes in black and there is no option to choose another color, what then?

I agree with you on that. I picked up a pair of Anzo LED cubes at Oreilly's on sale for $90. Debating whether to wire them to come on with hi beams only or separate switch to be able to use them whenever I want.

    I thought they were knock
offs too. Surprised that Amazon is letting them sell using Rostra branding and same model# That kind of thing usually happens on ebay

Actually the product itself doesn't feel flimsy. It came with no instruction, but it did come with air freshener. I don't get that. I am mainly worried about longevity of this product. I guess I could use it, but I think I rather get Rostra.

Air fresher but no Instructions. Ok this one goes to the top of the list for what are they thinking.

I wander is rostra uses them for building there stuff and they repackaged it under there name and mark it up then.

Is the air freshener pine scent or spiced rum? Your supposed to make your own instructions. I also liked Se-quoia. Adds a nice touch. As long as they work. Besides you can always use Rostra' s instructions. They looked like a fairly easy install on Rostra's site

Is it painted black or is it black plastic? For the price I knew it had to be a knock off, sites like headlight revolution offer the Rostra DRL's at $350, I like the look and the idea of having white DRL's sitting under the Amber DRL parking lamps but the price is steep.

Rostra claims to be an American supplier with US manufacturing. Maybe Rostra vs Amazon? You should contact Rostra and tell them this what you got from Amazon when you ordered their brand.

I don't know that I'd get too hung up on the name. Chances are they are all made in the same factory. Try browsing eBay for HID kits, for example, and you'll find the same exact kits being sold under 20 different names.

See it all the time on low end test equipment mfr'd in the Pacific rim.One mfr, multiple branding. Order enough and you can use your name if you want or your dog's name for that matter.
