You win the Internet. Just found a station near work that uses this on my lunch and tried it out. 3.59 gallon went down to 2.88! Now I'm happy lol I'm going to save a ton towing this weekend because these stations are all on my route to texas

I rarely have 600lbs out back. You do your due diligence and buy for your needs....lol
I use Getupside but today I used my King Soopers fuel points and saved 40 cents a gallon. 3.12 for top tier 87.

.....I was thinking maybe even a hill of some sort. Not to dig on Florida at all. Great fishing, air boats are kuul and the Manatees are definitely something to see up close. Most I saw had some pretty bad propeller scars though.

I live in a small town, I doubt I will ever see one of those around here. I have seen pictures of Bucees stations on the internet before lol. The largest station is the one at Walmart which i refuse to buy from. They also have lines and it's not top tier fuel.

Inside your own house with all the blinds closed and the TV off.

I had to step over a crackhead yesterday that was overdosing on the sidewalk in front of the gas station a few blocks from my house.

My truck has factory wheels and suspension. I get 15.4mpg in city and 16.6-17.1mpg cruising at 80mpg according to the computer on a recent road trip. Texas had the cheapest gas at $2.65 and Indiana had the most expensive $ 3.11. but you better suck it up as I don't expect gas to get any cheaper for a while.

Looks nice! I guess once we start the mods we shouldn’t care about gas mileage but I still watch it, can’t help it

Don’t care. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t want high gas prices. But I don’t look for a cheaper station or think one second about not taking a trip or whatever based on fuel prices. Fuel availability on the other hand would get my attention!

Re: Ethanol free - I’m curious as to how “helpful” it is to modern engines.

I agree - it seems to yield better MPG (haven’t tried in my Tundra yet - but other cars yes). Last summer when I was driving to the lake daily - I would fill up at a gas station near the water. They carried rec fuel (ethanol free) and the thing is they kept the price exactly the same all through the season.

Guess they simply preferred to keep attracting the lucrative boater business vs making a few extra pennies a gallon - and when your fueling up a tank of 100 gallons or more - those pennies can change your shopping habits.

It definitely made my old Silverado peppier and got me decent mileage. BUT I have always been told that ethanol gas is actually GOOD for modern engines with the detergents and all (similar to oil - what’s bad for a small engine is actually good for your car). Would think every 5th or 10th tank of ethanol boosted 91 or a can of additive every few months would equal things out - but curious if there is any real benefit from ethanol vs pure gas ?

Ethanol absorbs water. Not good for any modern engine actually. Flex fuel engines are designed in part to account for that issue. All top tier fuels whether pure dino or ethanol based get the same additives.

I would think that it's not so much the ethanol that makes it better but all the detergents and additives you get when buying from a major brand like Exxon that makes it "better" than straight up gasoline, even though it has ethanol.

Agree - the corn is not “helpful” - just the additives they use in the blend.

Are similar additives used in pure gas - I know each manufacturer has their own specific “blend” - for example ARCO/BP is different from Exxon which is different from Marathon or Valero for example.

And knowing that many of the unaffiliated stores just buy gas spot from the nearest wholesaler and change from time to time - the gas you get from them may be Marathon regularly - until a wholesaler gets a better deal from Sunoco.

There are clearly less makers of ethanol free than “regular” gas or at least less production around here not sure who makes ethanol free - thinking the BP branded station carries it - but the others are all chains with no affiliation. Be interesting to see if anyone has studied the differences.

I have always gotten better mileage out of ethanol free gas. The only problem is that in the wonderfully tyrannical state of New York you can only get ethanol free in 91 octane. So the added cost negates the mpg gains…

Gas is getting closer to $3 here in Tennessee but Coondog likes riding in the Tundra. So... mpg don't matter none. She ain't riding in no Rav...

I feel old today after reading this thread. Guess I never forgot the 70's and 80's trucks half gallon per mile fuel economy. My 85 GMC got a top of 7 mpg but normally a bit lower. I know, gas wasn't as expensive back then, but a good wage was also 10-15.00 per hour. My first job was 2.40 per hour. I quit that and kept my paper route, lawn care/snow removal. I did far better doing manual labor.

This brings me to why I stopped daily driving trucks and purchased a commuter car. I'm a truck guy. Love the feel and how comfortable they are now days. Just something about it. As of today, my 2016 tow rig has 66,634 miles on it. This November 4th it will be 5 years old from purchase. If I keep this trend up, I shouldn't need a truck for at least 5-8 additional years. Now before, when I was DD trucks, this was not the case. Hell, in a little more than three years I had 89K miles on my Tundra. Had I not purchased a commuter, my truck would be at 139,134 miles and most likely looking at trucks in the next 12 months. Seems once you pass 150K on a vehicle the value really takes a nosedive.

I don't recall hearing about any cleaning benefits of ethanol in my 10 years in refining but that could be my bad memory. I suspect you may just be thinking of the fact that modern automotive engines are designed to run up to 10% ethanol while older carbureted or 2 stroke engines are not.

In addition to contributing to smog from tailpipe emissions, ethanol is hard on certain materials such as some rubbers used for hoses or gaskets.

The difference would be that the generic station wouldn't get the additive pack that the refiner puts in the gasoline that they sell at their own branded stations.

This particular topic has been covered here numerous times. The various top tier fuel additives (which are pretty much the same chemistry wise) are mixed in at the fuel farm when tankers fill up or no additives at all depending where the fuel is being delivered to. Saw this first hand myself in Anchorage while spending a week onsite at the Port of Anchorage fuel farm calibrating a slew of pressure relief valves. In Anchorage all gas is pure dino refined up in Fairbanks and piped down to the Port of A fuel farm. Actually there is no E85/ethanol used in gas in Alaska. Why? Iowa corn is a long ways away.....
There is a fuel farm that I pass everyday to work. Quite busy today. Lots of various branded tankers waiting in line to fill up right now. Some loads will get additives and some won't. Hefty fines when selling non top tier gas at independent gas stations claiming to be top tier.
