His computer probably says no because you need to modify it by moving the filter tube over from the old housing. It isn’t a “direct” replacement.

Yup. The perforated "spindle" needs to come out of the stock plastic oil filter housing cap and go into your new one. See below.xxeerr.jpg

The base, where it connects, just requires that you push it down lightly and twist. Twist lock so to speak. Your new aluminum one will be exactly the same. You'll see it clearly once you look inside there (after you douche everything out with Brake Clean). If you can get that hot chicks bra off, in the dark, when you're drunk, you'll be able to do this NO PROBLEM.

I ordered the same one. I haven't installed it yet, but will I use the existing oil filter plug with this one? Thanks

On my '12, I reused the metal plug from the plastic housing, it's the same part.

I bought PN 15620-31060 for my Tundra but traded it in on a Raptor before I could install the metal filter housing. My wife has a 2018 Rav4 Adventure and this fit on her vehicle so it isn’t 5.7L specific.

Tundra is not on this list because that part number technically does not fit.

Hey I have the metal housing and need to swap the inner cylinder. When you say bend tabs I assume it’s those small bits that look like spot welds? I haven’t done it yet because I’m afraid I’ll snap them off. Any tips? Thnx!

Wife’s Rav4 is a 2018 and it fit even though the list you provided doesn’t reflect that Mine came in a Lexus box too.

Evidently toyota has moved to all plastic. So that part number doesn't show your '18, because the "correct" part is not aluminum.

All of those vehicles have the 3.5L V6 option which would explain why the I4 in the Rav4 or V8 Tundra isn’t listed. Weird.

What are the consequences of not switching out the inner cylinder? I recently switched my filter cover to the metal one, but didn’t switch the inner cylinders.

Filter could collapse on itself and kill your oil pressure. I’d fix it ASAP.

    Internet pic for illustration.

    Well this is terrifying.

Take a picture when you drop it out. I'm curious to see if it has collapsed.

    Whelp…at least now I know.

    Two related questions…

    1. I threw away the old filter cap with the longer inner cylinder. What is the part number for that?

    2. Can I drain and change the oil filter without draining the oil from the pan?

    1. You have to buy a new plastic cap to steal the cylinder. 15620-38010

    2. You can change just the filter. You will need a quart or so to top back off.
