First off Hi everyone. Just registered and been reading lots of good info here :)

Here's my situation. I have a 2014 Tacoma that I own and gotta say I'm over it.. It feels cheap and honestly I'm over the new car thing. I stay nervous I'm gonna scratch it or mess something up. So, being that I have a lot of equity in it, I'm thinking about trading it in on a 2006 Tundra Access Cab SR5 v-6 2wd (sadly not 4x4 but I really don't need it). I can walk away owning the Tundra and have enough $ to pay off a loan that ouwld leave me 100% debt free - Got what a feeling that would be.

The tundra drives great - good AC, no rust, 123k miles.
Is there anything you long time members can think of that I should be concerned with? Being a Toyota I'm not too nervous about the miles. I went over it and have it going through a mechanical inspection. I'm verifing that its up to date on service, title is clean - no accidents, etc.

I'm super excited about it - as said it drove great and it'd be nice to have something I can scratch and not sweat. I'll be adding a ~3" lift and tires at somepoint, and I have a new set of aftermarket 17" wheels sitting in boxes that were gonna go on the Taco but aren't obviously now.

Sorry of a little long winded

Also, can anyone verify the total length of sliders to fit this truck in a 6' bed. I'm curious if there's any chance whatsoever at retro fitting the sliders from my DCLB tacoma over to the Tundra.

Honestly, do what feels right for you. I have a 2015 Tundra TRD PRO, cost me a lot of $$$, but a the end of the day its a truck. I live in AZ and love to do a lot of desert driving, I already have a ton of scratches, maybe they'll buff out, maybe not, but I'm having fun and that's what owning a truck should be about. Never owned a Tacoma, but sure do love my Tundra! If you want sliders, check out All Pro Sliders... I just ordered a pair.

I'd love to take this truck and have some fun but as my DD I'll likely just do a little lite modding and et the rough side drag. Nice thing is it can be used as a tow rig in the even I get a play Tacoma down the road.

I used to have '10 Taco DC O/R. While I really liked the truck I always felt cramped in it and the seats were NOT comfortable at all, we would never take it on a trip longer than an hour or so because of the comfort thing and now with my Tundra there's no issue with comfort or room inside. I'm not sure what kind of MPG the '06 will get but the difference between my Taco and Tundra doing the long haul at 75 MPH isn't much really and the comfort of it all makes up any difference - fast!

I had an '09 Tacoma that was lifted, sliders, tires etc etc...traded it for a Tundra, then a bigger tundra (crewmax) and haven't looked back. The room in the cab is enough to live in if needed.

At the end of the day, it's your money and your truck- do what you feel is best for you. I will tell you, the extra power is fun!

Totally agree. I had a 13 Tacoma sr5 and then got the 14 Tacoma Sport and hoped the TRD seats would be better.. Nope. Still crampy and gotta say these trucks are not for tall people like me. At 6'4" I find I'm always ducking down to see stop lights better. Don't get me wrong - Tacoma's are nice - but I really thing for a DD the Tundra will serve me better. I can't wait to lift it and get new tires

I don't know your financial situation, but have you considered a 07'+ 2nd gen? The 5.7L with 381 HP, coupled with its larger size, and better tow/load handling capacity make for quite an upgrade.

I had a 2014 tacoma trd off road with trd supercharger and trd exhaust and 3 inch pro comp lift with 33's traded in it for 2015 tundra crewmax trd off road and I love it. Tacoma was a great truck and got compliments on it everywhere I went but just wanted something bigger love the tundra and the crewmax is awesome 5.7 v8 is still better than the 4.0 v6 supercharged.

You'll get the same on the Tundra. It gets complimented almost weekly.

Wow, you've had/have some nice trucks

I've looked for them but the ones I found were a good bit more $ and really out of the realm on what I want to accomplish.
Going with the '06 I will own it outright and get enough back to payoff my Student loans. I will then be completely out of debt. That coupled with a truck that's a little old that I can enjoy instead of be worried about perfection constantly will stretch a huge smile across my face ;)

I've seen some really really good looking Tundras. I wish I could go all out but that would do the financial opposite of my goal.
I do plan on lift, tires, tint and either a cap or tool box.
I have a brand new set of wheels in the shed that'll fir the Tundra too so its a win win. Too bad my W/O seat covers won't fit..

The 2006 is a nice truck. I don't have any experience with the 1st gens though.
Are the seats better than the tacoma?
What's the size difference between the 1st gen tundra and 2-3 gen tacoma?

    Sorry for the delayed response.
Long story short I bailed on the 2006 Tundra. Had some issues the dealer couldn't resolve.
Bought a (huge mistake) 2004 Infiniti I35 with 49k - had it 3 weeks, hated it, me and cars don't work together, traded it in this past weekend for a 2014 Tundra 4x4 FTW :)

Oh wow. Really jumped ahead and scored a 2014. Awesome. Great choice in the end.

Thanks, I'm stoked. It took a lot of considering but a good deal came up and I said WTH - may as well do it right and be done with it. Can't wait to recover some $ and mod it out like crazy
