Like many of you, I was also experiencing my driver side speaker having a very noticeable rattle during bass heavy songs. This is the fix! There is a loose, thin piece of felt-like fabric at bottom of the slit directly behind the window switches. Simply removing this piece has fixed the problem for me. I have no idea why this works but I saw it posted somewhere else, and sure enough my speaker rattle is now gone after testing it with the most bass heavy music I could find.

I just noticed a slight rattle last night (only during heavy bass). I took both inserts out this morning so I'll report back if I notice any difference.

You do realize that felt piece is what is used to keep the wastegate issues at bay, right?

Let me know if this works. I noticed it today on my passengers side door. I didn’t want to reach over and look for felt as I was driving responsibly.

It did not work on mine. My rattle is coming from behind the little pocket under the handle

I’m dealing with what sounds to be the same rattle. I’ll be taking it into the dealership this week or next, between that and the rattle from the rear sliding window when it’s down, I can’t drive without the music on.

My rear window only rattles when it’s opened and all the way down. I love having it open but the rattle is unacceptable.

I had the same speaker rattle in my passenger door when playing heavy bass songs. I took it to the dealer and they attempted to isolate the door panel and was told “it is what it is”. I opened a case with Toyota Customer service and the truck ended up going back to the dealership. The dealership did a technical call with Toyota and they replaced the door panel as well as installed a noise kit which seems to have fixed my issue.

Hey, super weird. Both my passenger and driver are severely rattling. Took it to toyota multiple times where the techs “confirmed it”. They tried several fixes and claimed that they even called technical toyota but their response was that it was “normal” so the dealer pretty much said im out of luck……so now im sitting here not even able to enjoy the sound system.

    any suggestions?

super cheap method, slap a in line bass cap on the two front door speakers

better method, take it to aftermarket stereo place and get them to sound deaden the door and take out the rattles with the stock system.

best method, aftermarket system that puts the bass in a real sub where it should be

Wrong. Most well put together sound systems will use 6.5" drivers in the doors for mid bass. 10" or bigger subs aren't that good playing mid bass and are more efficient with lower frequencies. You cant/shouldn't keep mid bass out of the doors if you want a well rounded system. What you could do with a DSP is turn down specific stages to not be as loud (Gain) or better time align them or set more aggressive crossover (1st-4th order filters). But by no means should you solely rely on a "real sub" for bass. Youd be surprised how well Toyota/Lexus performs in SQ competitions...there are guys running stock Lexus/Mark Levinson processors and winning competitions.

no shit , lol. My point is your first sentence, “ most well put together systems”

    the stock setup isn’t one.

I know how a real system should be, I have one now. I’m not saying take all the bass out of the doors , of course mid drivers should have some, but the way jbl has this tuned , it’s too heavy and needs to roll off higher if your sticking totally with what they have. They push the mid drivers harder and lower than they do the sub in these pos systems .

anyway , we ultimately agree, like I said , the best way to do it is with aftermarket stuff, like I have now and like you mentioned .

but for some one who doesn’t particularly care for the best sound and just wants the doors not to rattle like crazy when they listen , and also doesn’t want to spend any money at all really , like I said super cheap bass caps would do it most likely .

Anyways, my truck is on the way now and off we go, stock isn’t going to cut it for me

Did you try calling the Toyota 1-800 number and opening a claim? They were very helpful when my dealer was giving me the run around with this issue. 1-800-331-4331

My fix was a loose wire harness on the inside of the door (between the inner and outer skin). I just had to snap the two clips into the appropriate holes, and rattle was gone. I would suggest replacing the clips on the door panel before snapping it back on the door. You don’t want to create a new rattle lol.

I have the rattle in the driver and passenger doors. If I put my finger on the smooth plastic below the window control it stops. I have the JBL system. One thing I am finding is the system has a minimal adjustment. I’m mostly frustrated as the truck has almost 300 miles….

I fixed a rattle (and squeak when I pushed my knee against it) by popping off the panel that holds the window controls and adding a little felt tape where the plastic comes together. Can't see it when together, but much quieter now.

    Have been traveling...

Pop off the panel, and put on some tape. I used the felt wire loom stuff. Some clearly isn't sticking great, but when you pop it back on, any squeaky contact points seem to be solved.
