Why is my Tundra asking for a PIN number?

Doesn't anyone know what this means ? Owned truck for 3 days all was perfect . Now I getting this "enter pin" repeatedly as I drive . Bluetooth working fine truck is key linked . I press cancel everything works as should then it just randomly pops up again. I tried 0 0 0 0 pin on send link but still randomly doing it . Maybe a OTA update will hopefully fix it . My dealer is also looking into it . Any info knowing the issue is a help ...thxs

 

When I purchased my truck and set up the infotainment it asked me to create a pin and I did that not sure who set up yours

Thxs guy ... I remember setting up pin the Toyota app on phone . Then scan qr code on screen and everything is working well just that enter pin message started today. Truck was setup at dealership with delivery/infotainment person.

 

Mine did that a couple times also after bringing it home I kept hitting cancel also finally enter the pin and haven’t seen it sense

 

My Toyota app for registration was letter and number. The one on my screen is only numbers

 

My pin was not in the Toyota app it was actually in the truck before we left the dealership

 

For mine, I called Toyota and opted out from all the data collection. Now my truck does not show any specific profiles in the infotainment. However, it works like a charm now, never glitches out or gives any errors trying to sync or connect. I use wireless Apple CarPlay for mine.

The driver profiles now are done by the old school way using the key and memory buttons on the door.

 

Ok I'll try to just keep hitting cancel over weekend .if it doesn't solve issue I'll head back to dealer next week. Thxs guys

 

I believe the pin is kind of like a password for an administrator on a computer so if someone else drive your truck they can’t change certain things

 

I was driving my truck home and my wife did that part of the set up. some time later while setting up the key fob it asked me for the 6 digit number and I didnt know it. I called and asked my wife and she said its our wedding anniversary. did you go through a similar scenario?

 

Yeah and in the doghouse I went for not remembering. If there was ever a tattoo I'd find useful it would be my anniversary date.

 

Hmm I just used link key option in the menu . That got rid of the guest mode and phone automatically synchronized to truck . Didnt get the truck asking for pin number when I linked key. Maybe I'll go over the process again. I linked the key 2 days ago thou just wired it asking for pin number now . Thxs I'll try it again

 

That PIN its looking for is the one in your app.

Open your APP on your phone.

Click on the “Account” button on bottom right corner

Click on “security settings”

Look at “Account Pin” section. Reset the pin to 6 digits. These are the 6 digits you will input on that screen you had the picture of.

Hey all, has anyone experienced the issue where your 2022 tundra keeps asking you to enter your pin on the screen? What is the pin for and why does it keep asking?

Your dealer should have set you up with a pin that controls your infotainment Bluetooth, apple car play ect. if they didn’t you’ll have to get the manual out and do it yourself it is a bit time consuming. That being said I had this done at the dealership and for the first couple of weeks after purchase I had this pop up on my screen Enter Pin # but it went away on its own.

I got my truck the second week of January. A week later it asked me like 3 times for the pin. Then I went all the way to last week and it didn't ask me for it but once. In the past week, it has asked for the pin like 20 times. It is really frustrating.

 

Logging out of the app on the phone and logging back in/authorizing fix the problem for me.

Same thing happened to me!
I rebooted the radio by holding down the volume button and when the pin screen popped up I put in my pin in and it went away.

I reached out to my dealer and they said Toyota does software updates automatically and when completed it requires you to put in your pin once completed.

 

It asks for the pin when I use command start from the app and not every time, doesn’t bother me I had the pin in my phone from when I purchased the truck. It’s like a bank pin that you set so it’s you’re password.

 

Ha! I can see all the Tundra engineers leaving the parking lot now....a long line of Priuses headed out!

 

The catalytic converters are exposed and vulnerable as all hell, but by-god, nobody will get into our radios.
