Coming from Jeeps all my life. Picked up my first '22 Tundra.

Do Tundra owners normally wave to each other when passing on the road?
The Jeep wave is real.. and 95% of the time you'll get a wave, or peace sign as you pass each other head to head on the road.

Curious if Tundra owners wave? I've passed a few now in the past week and so far I'm 0 for 4.. Albeit these Tundras were stock.. one of which was even a '22 but i figured someone would at least flash a peace sign back... is this not a thing?

I wave. But I also live in a rural area of Texas, so waving is kinda the norm regardless of what you're driving.

    Two things:
    1) Is there a Tundra wave? Um. No. I might get a head nod occasionally, but that's it.
    2) Regarding the Jeep wave: I've found the Jeep wave to be pretty much limited to Wranglers. I've realized, at least where I live, that Wrangler owners feel like they have exclusive license to anything Jeep related and that all other Jeeps are inferior. haha. I say this because I've owned a couple of $hitbox XJs and WJs throughout the years, mostly as road-legal trail rigs.

    No
but I do get waves from behind, by GM, Ford and Dodge Ram pickup owners, whenever I drive with the rear window down.

    Too many, but not enough....
A jeep is much more purpose build and bought when compared to a tundra so most tundra owners are essentially no different than any other car driver.

Well...every movement starts with 1 person. If you want it, make it happ'n capt'n! haha. If I see a Tundra wave at me...I'll wave back.

Whenever I'm at a stoplight and I'm next to an equally modded Tundra or even a F-150 or a Chevy...I usually get this from the owner:

Ram owners are generally too busy doing this:

Not sure about the success rate in the Prius LOL!
I'll keep attempting especially as more fellow 3rd gens hit the road.

    This ^^

When I first got my '10 4Runner there were usually waves exchanged with other 5th gens. That stopped as the numbers increased - don't even get a glance now.

Few years back, I took my friend’s Jeep to drive my wife to the town center while in Mammoth. I almost got a divorce since some chicks were waving at me in another Jeep. Had no clue about the wave at the time.

Haha. I did the Jeep wave a few times from my XJ but only ever got crazy looks from Wrangler guys. I even tried to wheel with a "Jeep Club" once but it turned out when they said "Jeep" they actually meant "Wranglers Only." Probably why I'm so disgruntled about the whole thing.

I wish I had kept my last XJ. I sold it when I moved to Nevada. When I first moved here, I lived in Clark County, and they have smog testing. I knew my $hitbox wasn't ever going to pass a smog test and I didn't want to have a vehicle that wasn't road legal. Fast forward a year and I live in Nye County now where we have no smog testing requirements. Only Clark (Vegas) & Washoe County (Reno) have smog testing. Booooo. Oh well. Hindsight is always 20/20. Too bad my crystal ball was broken the day I sold it.

Have you seen where the Jeep wave has evolved into this dumb "Jeep Duck" thing? At least the duck is more "inclusive" to all Jeeps. hahaha

The duck thing is stupid, but at the same time I’ve never participated and I’m not on social media. This forum is the closest I’ve ever been to social media. I also owned a real Jeep (I mean Wrangler), you know 2006 and down. Even then I’d say 95 and down for pre OBD II, less computer and no airbags. I’m biased anyways since my first car was my 95 YJ.

On a side note I rolled the back window down and waved at a brand new F150….needless to say he didn’t wave back. Thanks a lot @ToyoTundra89 haha.

Down here in Texas, them fightin words. If I were in that Jeep, during that wave and I was driving. I’d abandon ship and run, probably why the doors are removable haha

I’m pretty rural and not a ton of people to wave to (I’m yet to see a ‘22), but I do enjoy waving to people walking. I’ll usually give the happy double “toot toot” real quick, they get excited, then i wave in the other direction at the woods. Their expressions are usually priceless. :) Some people “get it”

The jeep wave was pre wrangler. And there was a hierarchy of who waved to who based on your vehicle stats. Now it’s just stupid. Especially the jeep newbies who start waving a half mile back or wave from the passenger seat and back seat like a bunch of bafoons.

Here are the new wave "formats" by truck manufacturer:
    • The Tundra (or Taco) Taunt - The 2 arm flip off. Requires advanced dexterity since you have to take both hands off the wheel.
    • The Ford F-150 Finger - The traditional bird. Self explanatory.
    • The Ram Clam - 4 fingers flat with your thumb below, making a clam shape.
    • Ram Rebel Version: Ram also has a sub-variant for Rebel drivers called "The Rebel Treble" where you have to turn all bass on the EQ to zero and just blast highs & mids out the windows.
    • The Chevrolet Beret - You must always wear a beret while driving your Chevrolet and you wave it at every Chevy you pass.
    • The GMC Flopp-ee - A simple, very limp wave.
    • The Gladiator Patty Cake - Play patty cake with the other Gladiator driver while at a stoplight.

I'm all for including tacos and making this a Toyo Truck thing, thoughts @Taco-Spike ?
