Have a 2019 Toyota Tundera - I am faithful to Oil Changes and repairs. I had a 2012 for 7-years changed the oil and maintained service over that time I gave it to my current 2019 because after putting on 327,000 miles, the lifters were going and it was advised for me to trade - I wish I had gotten the lifters repaired - but that wasn't done and I have moved on.

The 2019 has been good - different then the 2012 - not enough to have had not stayed with the Tundra.

About a year ago I brought my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation. I left thinking everything was good. This was done on a Wednesday. On that Saturday, I stopped to fill the tank. i was standing there and said to myself, I'll check the oil - something to do. I pull the dipstick, cleaned it, put it back into its sheith and to my surprise there was no oil on the stick. I was freaking out! I always carry a spare quart of oil - I put it in and re-checked the stick. There was a tad of oil showing.

After leaving the gas station I stopped at a Automotive store and purchaced 3-more quarts, having put in just about two and a/half more quarts. I was pissed. I called the dealership - Middletown Toyota, Middletown, CT. Being a Saturday, anyone of importance or that I could bitch out wasn't there.

That Monday, I stopped with the emty quart containers and caught the Service Manager. I approached him with what had happened and he didn't like my attitude. I wasn't yelling and screaming and he was telling me to calm down - a way to gain control. Then he started to walk away from me.

At this point I asked to talk to the owner. The owner was busy, he was in a meeting. I waited for him to finish his meeting and then we talked.

The owner told me there was nothing wrong with running 5-quarts of oil in the Truck - this Tundra actually takes (I am told) 9-quarts of oil.

I put in close to the three quarts of oil and he gave me credit for 2. I didn't want to push this too far at this point I had been doing business with these guys for over 5-years and I had an appointment for later in the day to have the Front tires Balanced.

When i thought we were good I left and came back for the balance. Wrong move.

When I left, the drivers side window wouldn't go up or down without it chattering - it never did this before. I knew at this point we were through doing business. I think someon, one of the genius techs must have jumped on the window in some way. I used Armorall a few times and twisted the window a bit and eventually got things okay. I used the Amorall because it was the closest thing to oil that might unbind whatever was binding up in the window channel. I could clean the window it would not affect the channel

What I am not sure of and am having repaired as we speak, the 4-Wheel Drive is Ass. I don't know if they screwed around with it - I think they must of cause I have never had an issue with it and it isn't that I use it all the time, but when I do use it, I'm careful.

They shorted me oil on my old truck. I'm wondering if that was a reason the lifters went.

Would I ever recommend Middletown Toyota to you or a friend?

What happened to me was Crimminal. I am thinking about contacting Senator Blumenthal.

Well that sucks OP, glad you caught it before any damage occurred.

And good luck getting Senator Blumenthal to do anything about it…he lied about serving in the military so he isn’t going to tell you the truth…that’s for damn sure.

That's okay with Blumenthal. I just want to help out Middletown Toyota in any way I can!

I see you (OP) haven't been on the board since you joined. To get your dealership "service" story onto the top of the pile of all of the other ones from on this here lil' truck board we will need this piece of equipment:

Dealers are mostly scumbags, especially owners.
Elite and out of touch with anything that isn't profits.
I worked for a few in different roles over the years.

Techs are overworked, lazy, and careless, good ones are near impossible to find anymore.

I ALWAYS double check my oil changes and any service I pay someone to do, before leaving their property.
I request to watch the work being done and if they refuse, I usually leave with no work done.

Being a retired mechanic and knowing my stuff I usually get my way, or they don't get my business.

When I have gone to the dealer for their overpriced oil change, they always leave my truck 1-2qrts low, and I always make them top it off.
My truck is odd in that it takes every drop of 8.5 qrts to reach the top mark on the dipstick.

Now I mostly go to 3rd party shops with general managers I have worked for in the past that know me and my love for my truck and we hang and bs while I watch and chat with the tech doing my work.
Sometimes I buy the crew pizza lunch or drinks.
    Greasing the wheels helps.
Money is wasted on this, but it buys me some good will towards them working on my truck, shows I appreciate them and the shit they deal with daily while getting paid scraps in most cases.

Major repairs like when I decide to get my timing chain fixed will have to go to the dealer for a Toyota master certified tech.
I can't trust a 3rd party master tech with this as less then 1% have ever cracked open a Tundra engine, or any Toyota engine.

They can only get experience on the things that break.
They know domestics and hyundai/kia imports inside and out though lol.

Geez Middletown? That’s horrible. Stephen Toyota in Bristol isn’t too bad. But I don’t take my vehicle in for service anymore.
