I plan to install 5100s on the front (2021 CrewMax) with the clip on the second setting, so 1.5" of lift.

Is there a downside to also adding a single 0.25" Coachbuilder shim on top of each coil assembly for a net-front lift of 2"? I gather this is not an uncommon setup.

I hope to avoid my truck riding like a dump truck (been there, done that), which I gather might be the case if I run the 5100s on the top-most setting. I genuinely can't justify fancier lifts at this time, but would love to net 2" with a single shim rather than 1.5".

I've always been of the mindset that spacer lifts are no bueno, but this seems very minor.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.

Following . Just Like you, I plan on running my 5100s at 1.9 and have the .25 shims on top... But they are still in the box and I haven't installed them yet... I keep going back and forth between this setup and the 2.3 setting and no shims.....

Middle setting, 1 shim on passenger side and 2 shims on driver side. Makes truck perfect and level.

Thanks. As I understand it, the non-level issue is not universal (my truck is perfectly level now), and from reading here, it's exacerbated when using non-OEM springs.

For $50, I'm going to give it a shot; the chances of making my Tundra into another dump truck seem low with this one. I put a bottle jack under my front end and that extra 0.5" looks legit to me.

I feel that the shims (even if it's minor) shouldn't be used to level. It's been spoken about extensively and many do use shims, however, I feel that you'll really only notice that driver side lean if you start measuring.

Then again, who am I to say? Up to you!

I have the drivers side lean on the top settings 5100's and OE springs. Its about 1/4 inch but I cant see it at all, I only know because I measured.

    Too many, but not enough....
CB also makes a 1/8" shim, which I plan to use with my eibach coilovers. They would net you a 1/4 inch of lift, which I want to compensate for any sag since I have an aftermarket bumper, winch and a bunch of skids.

I did this on my 18. Middle setting on the 5100 + shim on top. I didnt want to go to the 3rd clip on the 5100 due to the ppl saying it made the truck ride really rough ( everybody has an opinion tho) I figured that by using the shim i would preserve more of the shock travel, get the more popular ride quality of the second setting but get a height closer to the third. Been on this setup for about a year and 10k miles. Everything is subjective, but I go back to 'it feels more like a truck now'.

Honestly, when I replaced my stocks with the 5100s @ top setting, the ride felt SO much better. Our shocks are Extended Travel by the way, if anyone didn't know.

Hey @Steelruger22, here you go: Front 5100s, 1/4" CB shim (each side), Duratrac 275/70-18, no rear lift at all. Net gain was 2-1/8" which, of course, will settle a hair. (Note that I do carry some extra weight -- skids, front receiver, sway bar, sliders, etc.) It's a subtle, though still noticeable, change. Drives great! Now onto the next mod...
