What do you all use for a good high quality wheel paint? Something 2 part with a hardened clear?

thanks, these are just going to be a spare set of stock tundra aluminum wheels. While i would prefer to powdercoat, I'm planning just a sand & re-spray with the tires still installed.

All I'll say is this, what I always say when people bring up 2-part paints like SprayMax 2k clear packs:

SprayMax and similar 2-part paints contain Isocyanates. THEY WILL KILL YOU if you don't wear a proper respirator, the gas mask type, not a KN95.

Best way to put in layman's terms, think of Isocyanates as superglue vapor. You know what super glue does when it touches your finger, immediately hardening?

That's basically what airborne Isocyanates do when they come in contact with your lung tissue. If you go down that route, protect your lungs, it's hard to get another pair.

Shifty - superglue is cyanoacrylate. Polyurethane paints contain various isocyanates. The health concerns with iscocyanates includes mucous membranes irritation, chest tightness, difficulty breathing and severe asthma like symptoms. Several isocyanate compounds are classified carcinogens. NIOSH recommends a supplied air respirator for these products

Right, note the "cyan" Latin root in both. All part of the cyanide group. Just as deadly. If you vaporized super glue at the same ppm concentrate and inhaled it, the results would be about the same.

Concentration on 2-part paints like Spraymax is just as bad as Imron, and will mess you up just as bad or worse. I dunno if you remember all the controversy with Imron or not, but it was amazing stuff. Sucks, a lot of guys were left maimed or dead unless they had a fresh oxygen supply, studies showed it could break through a standard cartridge respirator in 15 minutes.

That can of poly Rustoleum bought at the store has a fraction of ppm compared to what a 2-part clear typically has, and even less so what Imron would. I'm obviously not a doctor, my 'harden on contact' example isn't 100% accurate, but from a physiological perspective of what would happen in both cases on contact with healthy lung tissue, it's not exactly wrong either.

It's worth cautioning people who aren't aware. scAmazon and other vendors selling 2K paints don't bother to alert anyone, many ppl don't like reading labels, and virtually none bother to hunt for MSDS on products either.

Dare I say it, I used Plastidip on my stock wheels, have to apply at least 4 coats but no biggee and its been on for about 5 years of more, did it with tires mounted also, and right over the chrome, cleaned of course.
