Need a FOB....help!

Guys, I have a 2020 SR5 ex cab 4x4.
Non-push button start model. I need to find out the keyless fob that I need.

I tracked down original owner, the truck came with a FOB, dealership bought the truck from Carvana who had misplaced or lost it. I'm on my own with this.

Anyone have a similar 2020 model that can tell me exactly what FOB I need? "G" "AG" "H" all Greek to me. I hope to pick up a new OEM on eBay and have it programmed by a locksmith that's a friend.

These are the exact keys I bought for my 2019. I programmed them myself with techstream and got them cut at Home Depot.

Are you saying that you bought a truck and have no key to it? Will be tough to get a key cut if you don't have one already.

 

If you're curious what type of key Tundra's use I believe it's a H key model. I'm basing my answer off what the ME-SO Customs flip fob key o had replace my fob with.

Side note: glad to know you have a non push to start, very good for aftermarket remote starts IMO.

 

The Powell, Wyoming dealer I bought from had ONE "H" key. I wanted my price point on the truck and that meant no deep detail (it didn't need one) and it meant one key with no fob--they were willing to make some for $$$.

I looked into your Amazon link and its showing a non-2020 fitment....

My guess would be it doesn't show 2020 fitment due to 2020 also having the push button so they cannot guarantee fitment. My stock key is also an "H" key for my 2019. I'd contact the seller just to be sure but my guess is it would work. When programming there are two steps, one to program the chip in the key and one to program the lock buttons.

 

Joe, mehtinks you are spot on about the push-button start. I did get the part number 89070-0C050 from dealer and it's showing the same fob you posted.

Going to deep dive a bit further, but suspect you are right.

 

How did you access techstream? Looking into that now as well...

 

I would highly suggest you check out Tom's Keys (https://tomskey.com/). I lost one of my two original sets of FOB keys and was able to get two more FOB keys AND a plain steel key (only locks/unlocks door) for less than the price of one FOB key at the stealership. Using the rental key-programing unit was a breeze if you watch his instructional videos. Then have your locksmith contact actually cut the keys for you as needed.

Dealer can cut any key with vin number

 

I bought a cable that came with a copy of it from Amazon. The particular one i bought is no longer on there but just read reviews and make sure to buy from a good seller that will send you the key after you install it. You'll obviously need a laptop as well. Having TechStream is convenient for other things too. Most recently I used it to bleed the brakes.

 

An update here. I utilized the Tom's key service and rented the necessary programmer and also grabbed the H key blank and H keyed remote fob (blank.)
Everything programmed out flawlessly, both the two H chipped keys and the remote itself--those are two separate processes but I was done with all in about 10 minutes.
Out the door for about $200 including the OBDII programmer rental, likely less than half what Toyota wants for the keys, remote and coding.
There is a pre-paid return label for sending the programmer back.

An fyi, I called Ace hardware, they want $99 for an uncut H-chipped key now! Insanity.

Thanks for the help here, appreciated. The 2020 model has some ambiguity (with the push button and non) that even Tom's wasn't 100% definitive on. I trusted Joe's recommendations above with the Fob # and was fine.

 

I just used Tom's for a new FOB for my wife's 13 Sequoia, simple, reasonably priced and had quick shipping.

 

Quick edit here...Tom's just refunded the $80 from my programmer deposit.
This process was $121, that included shipped programmer, one "H" key and one "H" keyed remote.

Likely about 30% of Toyota dealership cost for the same items and programming.
