Im working with my insurance at the moment to see if I can recoup some of that money, since it was deemed caused by the environment (insects).
I haven’t tried contacting Toyota yet as I’m way outside of a warranty and figured they’d tell me to kick rocks. But the service I received from my local dealership has proved sub-par.

Edit: On Nov 1st, the service manager at my local dealership called me and told me "Hey man, I got some baaad news.... you need a new engine."
I was like "Okay, that sucks.. but why? What is the cause or the point of failure that I need a new engine?"
Service Manager: "That's going to cost a lot more to diagnose.. I worked up a quote for you, for a junk-yard motor.. it's coming from LKQ, that's gonna cost $5,000 and come with a 90-Day Warranty. Overall, we're looking at $8900."
Me: "Well, that's awful news. Thanks man. I'm gonna pick it up and have it dissected. I can't pay that much money without knowing what actually went wrong. With all due respect, I'm not paying 9 grand to get a "shits fucked" diagnosis."
Service Manager: "I completely understand, and if when you guys are tearing things apart, if you find something we messed up, between you and me, please come to me. We can go to the manager together."

Idk what to make of that last statement from him.. does he want me to go to his boss?
Should I talk to Toyota Corporate about this whole mess?
Or should I STFU since I have a 2007 Tundra with 190K miles, about to be on it's second motor?

When I bought this truck, rubber banding this garage door opener was about the biggest DIY project I had done:

    DA57B437-8094-4042-A497-56DB29808728.jpg

Inspired by hacks I've seen here, I ordered three of these momentary buttons. They're available in other colors but I was trying to match the existing orange lighting. I soldered them to the pins on the back of the buttons of my garage door opener remote.

    031AA4AE-8F02-455E-8180-AD0910E49EBE.jpg

Yes, my soldering is the worst and I had to redo the first two because they broke during the install. Here's the completely crappy but functional unit, labelled so I know which button goes where and so archeologists from the future don't wonder about the weird device they found buried in my dash:

    9278C19C-91BB-4846-8497-EA46DD4A4AB1.jpg

(I replaced the battery so it should last roughly forever). Note this functions without the remaining wires being connected to 12v, so you could do this without modifying any wiring in your truck. The remaining red and black wires are just cosmetic to light the buttons.

I relocated the Tow/Haul button, a technique I also learned here:

    30128DAE-12F8-4552-B09E-7C36DDFA0FC4.jpg

    And here's the finished product:

    A4EDF358-9F06-4F43-9755-C2E02B77C995.jpg

I crammed the remote into the dash and the signal is still plenty strong. The button lights are spliced into ACC but only the bottom words light up right now. The upper part is supposed to light when the button is pressed but the 3V from the remote battery doesn't seem to be enough. I think I could fix that but not today.

Much different ride and handling than the Pathfinder AT 305/55R 20’s that they replaced. So far, I am really liking them.

GJ! With respect to the switches, have you considered blacking out 3 windows for the 1st, 2 windows for the 2nd, and so on so that it matches the garage opener buttons?

    Nice job.
As someone who just got a Sequoia that doesn't have Homelink ( I didn't think that was even possible), I may do your rubber band mod. The button one is over my skill level. :)

    Some.
Replaced the front brake pads. Got a year and a half out of them. I got the Duralast Gold pads from Autozone last time. So, they were free to replace this time.

I have that also. The problem is the damn 15 or so seconds of loud beeping it does when you use the app to close the door. I leave early in the morning for work, it would wake the whole house up.

It's not hard to add a Homelink mirror. Most are only 3 wires (ground + 2 hots). I added mirrors to my SR5 and Rav4

I got my Tundra a sidekick. 2020 Limited, 20k miles. Same white/grey. I wanted something smaller but as comfortable to drive as the Tundra, and the Highlander is it.

Wired a switch for my future interior lights (illuminating the floors just a big). The color is wrong so I'll have to replace it.

I'm actually looking at them. I found one in a wrecking yard but I don't know if it has a wiring clip that is compatible with my vehicle. So you just tapped yours directly to existing wires somewhere in the vehicle ?

If you get one with a autodim or compass you’ll have 3 wires to connect. If you want it to work when car is off then you’ll need to tap a 12+ constant (homelink), 12+ ignition (compass or autodim), and ground. If you only want it to work when the ignition is on you just need to tap a 12+ ignition (connect 2 hots, homelink/autodim, together) and a ground

My 08 is pre-wired above the dome lights. The pigtail doesn't fit so tested the wires and tapped them.

123 days later, I have my Tundra again! I picked it up as the sun was setting and came home. It feels WEIRD driving it again after riding my motorcycle or driving my wifes IS250 over the last few months. I'm glad to have her home though. I'm going to spend all day tomorrow cleaning her up!

Anyone replaced their Pinion Bearing on their tundra? Preferably a 4.7 with the 9.5" rear axle. I ruined my bearing tightening the pinion nut too tight, gonna have to pull the 3rd member out and do bearings etc

runs great, but I haven't taken her over 2500 rpm's yet. Gonna stay below 3500 until about 1K miles. DEFINITELY changing the oil at 500, probably 1000, 3000, and then going back to 5K intervals.

While the transfer process was going on I had them install a new starter from Toyota and some 12-hole injectors I ordered from Keith over at Dirty Deeds.

Edit: Also had the shop drop the trans pan, replace the filter, install a trans cooler, and unfortunately due to a leaky (new) rear main seal the fluid has been changed about 4 times. Haha. The transmission was dropped twice today.

very true, Keith does know his stuff... are they supposed to help with mpg or just more power or..?

Edit: just checked out the listing, pretty cool, might throw those on when I eventually do a tune up (I've also got the 4.7)

Gave the old truck a wash today. In the last month or so I got new tires and added a set of Bilstein 5100's all around. I set them on the middle setting and it leveled it out just about perfectly. 11 years old and just turned over 80k miles this weekend. Looks like I've got about 200k more to go....

Added some ambient lighting to the footwells. I can adjust the color and brightness with a Bluetooth app.

The gadget I bought included fiber optics that I had planned to use add some highlights, but it absolutely looked like crap so I just cut them out. It turns out interiors need to be designed to hide the fiber optics so you don't see them directly... Otherwise you end up looking like a teenager with a WRX and an Alibaba account.

If anyone has done any nice interior lighting please share because this is the first mod I've ever abandoned!

12” Bulletproof Lift, AFE CAI, AFE Exhaust, rock lights, Fas-Top tonneau and soft topper, Dasaita 10.2” radio, light bar, ditch lights, LED headlights and fog lights, LED interior lights, Amp Research rear bumper step, dashcam, BT ODBII reader and Torque app on radio
What radio is that? I’m getting a Tesla style radio for my car tomorrow. I’ve got the 10.2” Dasaita in the Tundra now which I think is fine, but this radio for my car could change my mind.

Installed some parts I had laying around. Got the black HVAC controls installed with AJT knobs and some Victory 4x4 center console MOLLE panels. Interior needs cleaned after sitting for the last 4 months, but I've been too busy putting some miles on her :)
