I am thinking about getting a Nest Learning smart thermostat for my home. I currently have a Honeywell brand that is about 5 years old and I do not like the scheduling on it or how that works.

Have 2 nest thermostats in the house. They work well, rock solid.

If you are at all tech savvy and like to fiddle with things, i thin the ecobee is the way to go. I kinda wish i would have gone this route, but i got a great deal on the nest's one black friday.

I have two Nests that have worked flawlessly for 7 years and another at my special needs brother-in-laws house that has worked perfectly for 5.

I had a Nest but it did not jive with my older mid efficient furnace. they also collect data from you which some people do not like.

Not a nest but my buddy has a knockoff in his house and he loves it. I wanted to get some smart thermostats for my house as well but I have 4 zones, aka 4 thermostats, so i didnt want to drop close to a grand to upgrade lol. I only really wish I had them when I take a trip for a few days and come back to a really warm house in the summer, but my AC is a beast and gets it cooled down pretty fast.

I've heard these are pretty nice and they are half the price of most.

I had a nest that was great until google acquired them and i started having random software issues.

Ive got an ecobee now and it’s been great for 5+ years.

I have had a Sensi Smart thermostat since November 2020. It looks and works great and have had no issues so far. I received a $75 rebate directly from my gas company when I purchased it from Home Depot.

I have three Ecobee3 Lite models. They all work to manage the multiple zones in the house off one HVAC system.

I enjoy having them- easy to set schedules + vacation mode, adjust temps remotely, and even filter change reminders. They are known to have online app issues, but it doesnt effect the actual thermostat operation.

I noticed you're also in AZ- I am on SRP and can link the thermostats to my account to match TOU plan hours to pre-cool the house ahead of peak rates and time of day.

My tinfoil hat might be showing, but I want no part of one of these.. I do appreciate the flexibility and convenience, and yes the tech is cool, but....

Ill check those out but its still over 300 bucks for 4. I may just wait until my damper takes a dump. I bought the house with 4 zones and its unnecessary for the size of the house, even thought the whole HVAC system is top notch. I would like to maybe have 2 zones, one upstairs and 1 downstairs.

If hes in AZ, there may be some kind of rebate offered by the power company. Of course, those usually come with some kind of strings attached.

i have 2 units and didn't want to drop that much on that many thermostats.
i think this is the one i have. i have a schedule set since my family's schedule is pretty consistent. switches between heat and cool because Louisiana likes to do that.
it's especially nice when we take a trip for a vacation and don't have to come hold to a hot house and can set it about 1-2 hours before we get back to ensure it'll be set....although it generally takes about 30 mins to an hour to get to set temp depending on how hot it is. i just get on the app and re-adjust it. it's also nice to be able to adjust it from anywhere if something happens where the schedule changes and want it set before i get home. i like that i can see how much it's been running through the app as well so i can use that information to bug me or to let someone know what i'm up against.

I have been pretty happy with the Nest Thermostat and doorbell. Most likely put the thermostat and fire/CO2 detectors in our new build. I've never turned on the smart feature, I have a base schedule out there and manually adjust if something changes in 1 of our schedules.

I am on APS power here in N. central AZ. They will give me a rebate but they want to be able to control my power during peak times - NOPE!

My current Honeywell isn't too smart. I can control it on my phone but the scheduling is goofy and the heat comes on in the AM and then turns to AC at about 10 am. I like the emergency temp settings on the Nest to where it will keep the house above or below a certain point even if the thermostat is off. Google can track me all they want as I am sure I am on a list anyway and I have a Pixel phone.

I have a nest learning thermostat with sensor I will list for sale shortly. I used it for one winter and loved it. It did not jive with my new Bosch heat pump system so I had to switch to ecobee which I am also happy with.

I have 2 Honeywells, (upstairs & downstairs systems) had them for at least 5 years, set to 83/68 never had any issues.

Love being able to control them from my phone.

The schedule is 83, it's at 79 right now & since no one is upstairs 83 up there. I run it before we go upstairs to go to sleep. It's Phoenix, it is hot here, we have a pool, & even running this high we pay 300 a month on a time of use plan that has it always at 300 so it's never 600.

We have this one as well. I don’t usually do schedules (CO weather is bipolar) but it gets the job done well.

I have 2 nests learning tstas to cover my 2 heat zones. Initially wasnt sold until I realized the remote sensors are compatible, which allows me to better control the living space of my main floor. After adding one, I'm 100% sold and they've proven to be worth every penny (~120/ea on sale, iirc). We've been able to drop the temp by 2 degrees and are arguably more comfortable doing so. The ease in feature is a nice touch, too (learns the average time to heat or cool a space and starts your schedule accordingly).

As with all IoT devices, limit their permission profile on your smart router or connect them to your guest network. Not perfect, but better than nothing for security.
