I have a 04 tundra dc with the jbl 8 speaker system. Installed a Dual xvm279bt d/d h/u connected to a tyto-01 amp interface which connected to the factory harness to the factory amp. It worked fine for 2 years then all of a sudden the speaker volume dropped with distortion. The front door woofers foam had come apart so i rebuilt them. It sounded great for about 3 minutes then same thing happened. I had the door panels off and the woofers had no sound at all. I installed a 70-8117 amp bypass harness and this is where the confusion started. Connected the 8 front and rear speaker wires to the head unit which left the 4 positive woofer wires. So i tied them into the front positive. Did not work. took out the woofer wires. did not work. So I started reading about this jbl system and after market installs and the more i read the more confused I get. I have chatted with best buy and they try to sell this big package deal and install it. I can do this myself if someone could tell me what to do. All i want is a simple decent sounding system. Not knowing what exactly caused it to stop working I dont want to just start replacing this or that, bypass amp, replace amp, crossover speakers, install new speakers using factor wiring, running new speaker wiring. My thought is to hell with this jbl crap. Install a decent hu, run wiring to 2 front and 2 rear aftermarket 4 ohm speakers, run acc, battery and ground wires. Any insight on this mess would be greatly appreciated. btw. I hate asking for help.
To all you Dads. Happy Fathers Day.

Your speaker problem could be voicecoil failure in addition to cone separation that you repaired. The ohm load / impedance of the factory speakers is likely matched to the factory amp. You can’t just combo speaker wires up as it changes the resistance the amp or head unit sees and can damage or cause the amp to go into a protect mode. The factory amp bypass, new speakers and amp are the traditional route to upgrading these systems. May require running new speaker wire. Before going ham on all that, I would retrace the install and make sure something simple hasn’t come unhooked during the repair and reinstall of the speakers.

Also check your tweeter connections in the dash they are wired with your door woofers and utilize a bass blocker/ crossover.

The JBL wiring system is absolutely maddening.
