I used to use Carly on my BMW’s. It’s a very through and comprehensive app. I’ve not used it for a while. But it’s a very solid app, capable of making custom settings and changes.

If I want it to blow colder I'll go from ECO to SPORT.

ECO is code for your truck running at 70%. My milage is worse in ECO than any other setting

I use NORMAL city driving and ECO on distance highway driving. Mid 19 city so far and upper 21 highway so far - just over 3500 miles on truck.

Yes....dont ask me to explain it but Normal / Comfort out perform ECO easily. I have zero idea why. Some get great milage while others get garbage. I think its in the tune but dont know enough about it

May not be reverent but I alternate octane each fill-up 91 or 93 then 88. We get grocery store points that we use to get gas discounts so it’s wash on cost. I refill at around 3/8 tank.

In ECO I get 15.8 in the city. We just drove 700 miles. Truck had 16.8 for highway. I'm going to check mileage after this trip to see how accurate Toyota is. Compared to my 2016 I fueled the same times but tank is 6 gallons smaller. My feeling is certain driving styles throw off the sensor used to calculate mpg.

It would be troubling if my 2016 got better mpg than the 2023 on the highway.

Has anyone used the VeePeak WiFi OBD adapter with Carista? That’s the one I have. I see Carista does have a choice for connecting to another brand of WiFi adapter (vs Bluetooth ).

I think everyone's definition of "city" is different. My "city" driving is setting cruise at about 50mph, with about 6-8 stop lights over 12 miles to/from work. Another person's "city" driving might not exceed 30mph with 10+ traffic lights over 5 miles.

It's the red lights that really put a dent in my mpg. I can have 18-20mpg on some trips, but then 14-16 on others, all depending on my luck with traffic and lights.

Anyone in Houston (particularly Katy area) has one that I can borrow for a cost of coffee (or beer)?

Need to turn off the rear seatbelts chimes and change the AC calibration.

I've got a Carista on order. I thought I had read that the infotainment can be reconfigured so it doesn't turn off when you turn the truck off. Does anyone know if this configuration option exists? Thanks.

Love OBD Fusion. Have used on my Tacoma for years when towing. Built a screen with analog meters for Eng Oil temp, Trans Oil temp, and Coolant temp with numbers and red zones for monitoring when climbing hills with a trailer. It’s not good for daily use as you have to reconnect after every engine stop. HUD display is another cool feature I want to try in the Tundra.

Wait, it lets you change the HUD that goes on the windshield?

No No. It has its own HUD mode which reverses the characters. I built a screen with large numbers for speed and RPM. Another for trans temp. Lay my phone on the Tacoma dash plugged in and at night it works great. When my Tundra finally arrives, delayed yet another week now, I plan on trying it in the tray with the power port behind the 14” display. Again, just during trips. Not daily.

OBD Fusion for iPhone is now $9.99 (was free). Gives access to all standard PIDs. I bought a Toyota in-app plug-in with extra data (now$15) but I just looked and there’s been no new updates since 2015. I run it with a WiFi OBD connector purposely so my phone still has its Bluetooth to connect to my Tacomas head unit. Just waiting for my Tundra to arrive to test it for what PIDs are available. I’m sure oil, trans, & coolant temps will be there. Hoping for turbo 1&2 pressures and temp if available. (I use a VeePeak WiFi adapter)

That’s the same one Ive had for years in my Tacoma. Carista Support just answered me today and said Carista will work with it. * THEY ALSO asked about my vehicle and said some new features are coming. I will try the VeePeak WiFi with Carista as soon as my darn truck arrives.

*You are correct. Sorry. I don’t remember paying for the App a few yrs ago. Only for the In-App purchase of the Toyota plug-in. Just checked with my wife’s phone and it’s $9.99 US. Thanks for the catch.

I know I’ve stated this before, but the Android app is more versatile with Bluetooth devices than IOS in my experience.

You can usually use whatever Bluetooth device with the app for Android as opposed to IOS that makes you use a specific Bluetooth/WIFI device.
