An installer is putting in a new system to a 16 tundra. Took an initial review of install on Saturday and was told that call accept functionality on the wheel is lost and was a function/result of the maestro link. Head unit is an alpine halo. Is this accurate or an install issue? Truck is still with installer so trying to see if I need to accept this or push on the issue. Has anyone else been successful with this? Thanks.

I have an 18 1794. I installed an aftermarket head unit with Maestro and still retained all call functions on the wheel. I even changed the volume up/down and track back/next to the way they should be.

The maestro unit itself may not have been programmed correctly to correspond with the right buttons

He needs to verify the upload to the Maestro but all of the functions on the steering wheel are supposed to work.

I’ve got a 17 that I upgraded the head unit, I had the maestro module installed and all steering wheel functions work and call functions work. I changed it out so I can use CarPlay. Everything works.

Thanks for the response everyone. I called the company that makes maestro (name escaping me at the moment) and they also confirmed. I have relayed the information to the installer and he said he would look back into it. Appreciate the help. Always important to know you’re barking up the right tree.

One of the features of the maestro is to specifically maintain the steering wheel controls. But you have to program the unit prior to install. I installed an alpine hall unit and the maestro and maintained the steering wheel controls and have had zero problems

I’d be a little nervous using a professional installer that doesn’t know how to program a maestro. Took me all of 5 minutes to figure out how to program it. I could be wrong but it makes me think he doesn’t know what he’s doing or is too lazy to do it right.

So maybe he realized he needs to
Undo some of the work to fix programming HU issues and doesn't want to be bothered? So trying to get you buy that this is the best you'll get.

No professional should have issues programming the Maestro.
