My rear sensor is slightly pushed in (see pic). Discovered this after I put it. Reverse felt and the warning signal was set of when noone was behind me. Felt under the bumper and I started pushing it back but there is some resistance and it wouldnt go back flush. Before I break anything...should I just use more force or is there a better/proper way to re-seat it? Do I need to remove the ring first and if so how? Near as I can tell it got loose and and slowly backed out when I was driving home earlier.

    Thanks.

If I recall correctly the circle piece on the bumper acts as a retaining clip that hold them in place. I think you have to unplug, twist and remove. Maybe one of yours fell out or broke and the sensor is backing out. They look like this:

So I got under the truck and my sensor looks like this (see example pics) the ring looks like it is slightly damaged (if you look it linda looks like the pic you posted but doesnt have the "L" attachment.

My local dealership has a retiner clip marked as part number 89348-0C011 but doesnt have a picture of the acutall part, but the diagram pic looks like the correct ring. A dealership eleswhere has a pic for that part number but the pic looks nothing like the diagram pic (looks like a flat rectangular piece that I guess would sit on the inner side of the bumper.

Guess I'll have to wait until the parts department opens on monday to give them a call unless anyone has any leads

I also found this diagram (attached) so it looks like I need #3, but when I checked my drivers side #3 (didnt pull it out, just felt around) I dont see how the the ring with the piece jutting out would clear the hole....

The outer ring looks sorta bent up, not letting it get flush

I’d give it a shot pushing the sensor while hold the ring and spinning the sensor. Mine occasionally move after some real harsh offroading

Update: toyota says they do not sell the outer ring itself, you can only get it by buying the entire sensor (close to $200)

Amazon sells a sensor for 12 bucks that is clearly probably crap, but it will be here by weds so hopefully I can use the outer ring on it (while still using my stock sensor).

Fingers crossed it fits right and the finish matches the OEM finish

Just did the same for one of my fronts. Hopefully the mounting ring will work with my OEM sensor

If the Amazon one doesnt work there is one on 1A Auto for 20 something bucks, that will be the last ditch effort, I'll keep you updated
