Sucks that anyone can try "gouging" but during Holiday traveling SUCKS...

I did have good luck with Enterprise But have been part of their "System" for a 20+ years...

We rented a minivan due to the 5 extras coming into Orlando and Enterprise made life easyo_O:D Van was available a day early at no extra charge

and after a small hic-up, we were comped. a full tank of fuel :) ...

Hopefully everyone has safe & uneventful travels back home...:hattip:

Sorry this happened. We almost learned this the hard way in FL a couple years ago. We ended up getting a car at 1030 pm (8:30 arriving time).

This year going up to Washington I booked direct. Everyone around us had issues except for us. Hell, we even got upgraded to a large SUV.

I've found with accommodations, the hotels themselves seem to have the same price as any of the third party booking sites these days anyway. I guess they've started to learn.

My wife and I flew to Houston back in July. When we got to the Thrifty place, we had an almost identical situation to the OP. I left my wife there - just in case something came available - and caught the shuttle back to the terminal. The driver had worked for Thrifty for over 20 years and told me all I needed to know. The situation was NORMAL! If you rent with them and get your car, great - you won the lottery! But for a LARGE percentage of rentals, this is the NORMAL story. Instead of taking back to the terminal (I was the only passenger), he dropped me off at the Enterprise/National location, where I was able to rent a car in <20 minutes. I will NOT try to save $10 by renting with Thrifty/Budget again. It is not worth the risk or the hassle.

I hate to hear stories like this. In the past I've always used Enterprise to rent cars when we'd go on vacation. Never had a problem with them. But the last couple of years I've used Avis to rent a car to drive up and meet my daughter in Maryland. One way was $70, so I can't beat that. OP I hope you get this cleared up and your money back.

What’s your current situation looking like? Are you still ubering everywhere? Did you get a rental? You need a ride to the airport?

I’ve used thrifty twice. First time they gave me a car and the check engine light came on 3 miles outside of leaving the lot and they said, if it breaks down we will come get you… lol

second time, everything was out with no expected return time due to the holiday, which I had pre-paid/reserved on their website. The manager showed up in this nice rental jeep for someone and I talked him into giving it to me and he did.

Me too, used for years. Last month they upgraded me for a small misunderstanding and the car I was given had 3000 miles. Pays for itself in my case with fuel cost over the Tundra.

I just reserved a rental with Enterprise for next week. I’m sure it’ll go smoothly, as always.

Thank you for offering - that's very kind and I very much appreciate it. A neighbor happened to get a new vehicle last week and offered to let us use their old vehicle before they list it for sale this week. So we've been able to make things work.
