Just did a 230 mile trip, half interstate at 72 mph and half small towns and country roads at 65 mph with quite a few stop signs and stop lights. Got 15.8 mpg. Since switching to the 295-18s at 69 lbs each I’ve seen about a 2mpg hit. Not good. BUT at 10,000 miles per year that’s under $300 extra in cost so no big deal!

Factory / Dealer installed at purchase: 1) TRD big brakes 2) TRD dual exhaust 3) TRD cold air intake 4) bed rug 5) bed mat 6) Tundra floor mats
    2008 Tundra DoubleCab 5.7L / 6 speed w/ factory optional 275/55/20 wheels/tires.

After 3.5 tanks of 87 octane since purchase, with much 'keeping it warm' in the driveway while tinkering on a stereo installation:

    Best (extreme caution exercised):
#14.9 mpg -- 100 mile trip into the Cascade foothills and down again.

    Worst (too much driveway tinkering):
#10.4 mpg -- 300 mile tank of fuel approx.

I highly suspect the (drive-by-wire) accelerator is to blame: It's impossible to hold it steady and lacks spring resistance / pedal feel.

Such MPG is about equal to my 1996 Suburban (Vortec 350 w/ 255 HP) and my 2001 4Runner 3.4L gets 18-21 MPG (real-world).

While any dreams of 381 HP with 18 MPG are fading faster than fuel in the tank, it's worth it! :)

So I have different tires but pretty similar setup to yours. I can get down to 11.5-12L/100km (20MPG) on a highway going 80-90 km/h. Anything above 110km/h will see 14L/100km (17MPG) In the city where majority of my driving is I am getting 16L/100km (14.5MPG)

I get an average of 18.5-20.5 on the highway for a 60 mile commute weekdays for work. It really depends if I’m doing 70 or 80.

But I’m switching to 285/70r18 from stock 20’s so that may change.

I run a 275/60/20, so tick smaller than you and I get 20-22 highway and around 16 in town. I do know once I push to 80 mph + the decline is steep LOL

In saying all that so far since I got this truck my annual fuel burn ( Hybrid owner ) has been cut by 40%

Drove from TX to OK ~600 miles one way. There was a lot of headwind and gf filled up the truck with 86 and didn’t notice a big difference but struggled to break above 23 mpg but then I was also climbing elevation and doing 80+ mph because after an hour or so she wasn’t having it with my speed limit and hypermiling tactics lol. Lane centering worked really nice after cleaning my windshield and the backroad I was on was repaved and restripped recently. I thought about adding octane booster but I think it shouldn’t be a problem I’ve been tryna burn it up laying into boost in low rpm. Trip average was 22.8 mpg with some breaks and a small detour to pet horses.

So far in the wet/dry, they are great. Low noise, really good traction. I have a chuckle whenever I notice the tread patten and being on a van. LOL. We haven't had any snow in IL yet so I can't comment on that. I don't like the MPG hit, but what can you do. My main reason for going with the cc2's was the snow/ice rating since we have a FWD Sienna. I'd love to get a dedicated set of snow wheel/tires for it like I had with the Prius, but that is bit in the future.

It will. In cold climates the gas engine is providing the heat for the interior, so it runs more when it is cold outside and you want to keep warm.

My truck doesn’t like highway speeds for fuel mileage. It’s worse, or at best equal to my 2020 tundra with larger tires as well.

what is highway speed? and are you accounting for winter blend?

Here's my viewpoint on MPGs in a truck, when it gets empty I put more in, done, HA

    70 mph and around 14mpg.
I don’t really care about fuel mileage but if it’s all the same then give me my V8 with the new 10 speed.

That is funny. I am the the opposite with my wifey. I get in her SUV and can not understand how she only gets 15 to 18 on avg when I can easily push it well over 20 mpg. Neither of us drive daily to work, work from home primarily.

8 less hp and 78 ft lbs less torque. I find the drive-ability of the turbo in a town/city environment to be much worse than my 2020 5.7 tundra. Whether that’s solely the small displacement turbos fault or other things I don’t know. I just know there was a direct feel between pedal to the truck moving in my 2020 that this turbo lacks. Also the simplicity of the v8 is nothing to forget about either. I’m certain the engineers could get a few more reliable hp and torque out of the 5.7 as well. Options is ONE reason I see the big 3 always outselling Toyota in the 1/2 ton market, they could have kept the V8 and I’d bet even if cost wasn’t a difference between the 2 powertrain options you’d see a large uptake on V8’s. My opinion of course.

also considerably lower peak as well, that counts

but I get that, nothing wrong with that. This thing out tows my old rig hands down, it's not close.

boost is fun, sport + AVS is something as far as response your talking about.

that's my .02 , The only thing I miss is the v8 exhaust sound, but the quiet and smooth has replaced that for me now.

No doubt highway power is much better. It’s just the around town where I miss the V8. The transmission in this thing that shifts down to 3 at a stop sign then when you try and go feels like you’re slipping the clutch to get moving. If you put it in tow mode it shifts down to 1st and makes a big difference. Sport mode doesn’t do much for me, I’ve tried.
