This discussion made me think of this picture. It's all relative. We think we need bigger cars, more room. But the Italians are happy in their little Fiats because they just don't know that they need more room.

That and also the fact a lot of European roads are smaller and tighter in spots....

We have a Highlander and Tundra and are 2 weeks into parenthood. I totally understood minivans the moment we left the hospital. Parked in a very tight and busy parking garage and had to get the car seat out through the back hatch. Those sliding doors are definitely awesome.

SUV/Truck/Minivan all serves a very different purposes, and with kids, minivan/SUV tends to fill the void pretty easy, but sliding door is king when parking is tight/premium. Even my girls are tempted to jump out of the truck SWAT style, and my wife can back her car into my bumper without feeling it is beyond me....

Grew up riding in the back of 15 passenger vans, and then the Plymouth vans from the late 80s. They are pretty versatile vehicles and would drive one if needed. My wife drives an Equinox, and I've got a Tundra and Camry. All of our vehicles have room for our 2 kids. If we had a 3rd I'd probably be getting a van.
