What’s up everyone, I have a quick question. I recently purchased my 2023 Tundra TRD PRO and since purchase I have replaced the volume knob on my radio once. Toyota replaced it as it was under warranty, however after just three weeks the replacement knob failed in the same way. I promise I am not beating on it, this is general use, and with the second knob I was even more cautious not to put too much stress on it. Anyone have similar issue ? Or a way to fix ? Thank you !!!

Have dealer replace it again then use volume control on left side of steering wheel in the future. I’ve never used my volume knob. It clearly needs to be redesigned as you are not the only one who has had it fail.

Preventative measure is to install a piece of heat shrink tubing to keep it from splitting.

Thank you Devron11, that’s a good idea. I’ll have it replaced and when I get it home I will try that…. Much appreciated

There's a couple of replacements found online that are better than the standard factory one. I think they are made by people who got fed up with the cheap Toyota ones.

Planning to just bite the bullet and grab the 200 $$ set from AJT ... look a lot better and no more worries. Can always throw the band-aid oem knob back on and recoup at least half of the set if end up selling truck.

There's some cheaper that are pretty good. I picked one up on etsy and came out really nice. Got it for about $20

^^ If say you were on your 2nd or 3rd knob, i would be inclined to believe you, but 7th?? I bet you've got finesse of a bull in a china shop..

I had an old ford missing a knob, decade’s ago and I can tell you for a fact that one of those really little vise grips will work flawlessly forever

    Lots of stuff!
These cheap plastic knobs don't seem to like being in a moving environment. Those machined upgrades are pretty pricy at about $300 bucks for a set of 2.

I haven't broken mine yet but I try not to touch it and just use the steering wheel controls while driving.

I might use @Mattedfred "Hey Toyota" next time :)

Or this could work. (not the tin foil - that is for a different thread) but the vise grips on the little stub. ;)

Same. Replaced my 2023 Tundra radio knob 3 times in less than 2 months. Plastic poor design.

Just thinking about using a vise grip on that makes me cringe. It's soo sad something like this is an issue. Mine is a little spongy feeling, probably cracked. Getting aftermarket if/when it breaks

@Eurodriver is using Liquid Nails for plastic trim pieces. Should also work on the knob. :notsure:

I mean, the knob isn't something that has to be removed and put back on ever. Why not glue it there semi-permanent? Just thinking out loud before bed time. Or was it sarcasm. :monocle:

been thinking of jamming my kids silly putty or that 3m poster putty, liquid nails or really anything would be better than this oem knob

In reality I don’t want to get it gunky, so probably do a 3d printed one or factory with that reinforcing collar someone made

..or take knob off and reinforce with some jb-weld, let dry then reattach and should hold up fine.

Thats my thought, and then silicone/RTV it on there. It will not come off, have some flex to prevent breakage, and will be removable if ever needed.

Perhaps a little steel collar to slip over the plastic tabs and prevent the tabs from bending too much. Or even a larger zip tie just tightened snug to the tabs. It should fit under the button and never allow the tabs to break. The zip ties with the metal stop are better to fine tune the pressure on the tabs.

My thought too. You can find that small thin walled brass hobby tubing in all diameters. Cut a sleeve to cover the prongs giving them strength and the inability to spread and break.

You guys are going all out. There's one on Amazon that $20. Saved me from wasting time messing with a volume knob lol. It's held up better so far
