Rear seats in Tundra Double Cab won’t go down. Any suggestions?

I recently got 2 10” subs with a box, but the box doesn’t allow the rear seats to completely go down. I bought them off of marketplace and the person that owned them said they fit fine. I have a 2013 and he had a 2007. I’ve heard of this problem before, but I would like to know if anybody has suggestions as to how to fix it. I’ve heard people putting shims, but I have no idea where I would put them lmao.

For anyone curious, the subs are 2 JL Audio 10w1v3-4’s and the amp is an

$165 Alpine MRV-M500 - Alpine Monoblock 500W RMS V Power Series Car Amplifier

Alpine MRV-M500. Ended up getting all of this including the box for 400 bucks, which I think is a good price. Not that any of this matters, I just thought some of you guys would want to know the setup.

I have not against buying a new box if that is necessary. Obviously I’m not trying to break the bank, but if you guys have any suggestions on boxes it would be helpful.

To start with, I don't think that box is correct for those subs. I have the JL Stealthbox with 2 JL 10's (built by them) and its half that size. Typically, the subs fire down in these trucks. I'm willing to bet that the original owner just let his seats rest on top of the box. In my opinion, I think it would be best to look for a local JL dealer and have them build a box for you.

I agree that my box in my 2012 also has the subs firing down. I think a new box would fix your issues and better protect the subs from any damage. I have the same JL's.

 

What box do you have?

 

Sorry, I'm not sure what box it is. I bought the box used on Craigslist with kicker subs and then put the JL's in. The kickers were blown and the box with blown speakers was $75.

 

Cut the lip off, it’s clearly keeping your seats up.

 

What I might do is just cut off that lip and add those speaker guards you have. The ones I have really don't do anything and just push inward with pressure. I'll probably get a different box in the future. I saw this one on Amazon made by "Q-Power" and the reviews look promising.

 

JLs need a much better box than anything that is pre-built.
