How did you secure the Mekede unit into the opening?

This is still very much a work in progress..

I used the baffle Mekede sent me with the plug and play harness I bought from them. The baffle is pretty much the same as the one in the link below. I think its for the 9" to 10.2" version of the android units. If you look closely there are 4 holes on the inside track of the baffle. They lined up with 4 mounting points on the Mekede unit. I secured the unit to the baffle using M3 x35mm machine screws. They were a bit too long and I ended using using some nuts for spacers. I would try using the M3x30mm screws to see if they work better.

Here is a link to the screw I used; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R8HPKTV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Here is a link to the baffle they sent me: https://www.amazon.com/Toyota-Tundra-2014-2020-Installation-Mounting

I am still working on a way to use the factory radio brackets to mount this. The radio chassis is not a normal single or double din size. There is no easy way to secure it to anything other than the baffle unless you fabricate a custom mounting bracket. The radio will sit on top of the baffle.

The baffle itself is just ok. It has a slight curve in it to match contour of the center stack. It does have the factory mounting tabs in the upper corners and they fit right into the oem mounts for them. However, the bottom of the baffle leaves a lot to be desired. It has the two mounting points at the bottom which allow the mounting tabs in from the heater controls, but there is no mounting support along the rest of the bottom. If you look at the mounting kit from Dasita (link here) as well as other aftermarket kits..you see support along the entire bottom of the baffle. This is very important!! Without this...the weight of the radio and baffle slightly pushes out the heater controls and you can see a small gap where they meet. Once you notice this...you will always notice this. There is a slight sag and I found myself wanting to push it in more every time I noticed it. I think its only a matter of time before it would sag in the middle too.

If you look at the Dasita 10.2" radio for our trucks, you will also see the mounting support across the entire bottom of the radio.

I am working a much longer thread about this that I will publish once I get everything sorted. Feel free to DM me in the meantime.

I'm still waiting on them to verify it will fit my 2016 SR5. I'm looking at the 10 inch m7 plus with 6gb ram.

Just installed my G12 in my 2011 tundra Sr5. Pretty straight forward and its a massive upgrade.

Here's where im struggling. Should i use my factory camera that in the tailgate? Its going to the mirror currently.

Heres my thoughts, I heard that the resolution is cropped and made to fit the mirror and if you send the signal to the head unit it could get grainy on the picture.
Its also presenting some challenges if i am to go that route.

Option1 (using Factory camera)I'd have to bounce the voltage down in the mirror and identify the correct wires and i dont have a video source tester. I followed a great video where this was done using a voltage meter and the product they used to change to 9volts i did purchase but not sure how to run/connect it. Then i would have to tap in and use a RCA video style and go into the a pillar to the back of the head unit.
    https://youtu.be/iIZZAtEcBqk?si=pCQehXn2M2TocDDT

Option 2( buying after market camera) buying an aftermarker camera would insure an easy wiring straight from the back and to the head unit. Ive identified where i can tap into the reverse wire so thats good, but id still have to tap into the mirror because after removing factory camera its going to send blank data to that screen in the mirror and i dont want an error or blue/ black screen.

    Any thoughts on the wiring?
This is what i bought: Red Wolf Step down.

Alright Dasaita fans - i need your input.

For about a month now, since i attempted the Phoenix Automotive upgrade, that cost me $250 to fail - LOL

I've been reading almost everything i could find on Dasaita, Joying, Mekede and Atoto. Now my head hurts...

Dasaita has won out and i hope its a win after all said and done.

Have narrowed down the choices to these two Dasaita units.

    1. 10.2 G12 - Android 12/13 - 6g/64g ram/rom (option for 8/256) - Qualcomm 665 cpu - LINK
more of a factory fit - radio frame has tabs for lower heater control snap in.
    Price $634.60

    2. 11.6 G12 - Android 12 - 6g/64g ram/rom (option for 8/256) -qualcomm 665 cpu - LINK
floating screen may need different dash kit it one provided does not support lower heater control correctly.
    Price $597.55

Does the 6g of ram propose any performace issues or would that be adequate?
I think more is always better, but at what point is it excess?

Looks like everything is identical except for the screen size and price.

Anything else i should consider, just to muddy the waters more - LOL

Just found this - appears the GPS antenna plug on both Dasaita's use something
call a FAKRA plug (whatever that is) so a different adapter is required.

This is supposed to work to convert Toyota oem to FAKRA

I just ordered your 1st option. the 10.2 G12. I only had one option for the storage size which was the 8G/256.
I have seen bad reviews about the microphone so I'm seeing if there's an alternative.

im about to order mine as well. Have been going back and forth with Joying on what they claim fits and what doesnt.

Even though Dasaita is a little more expensive, probably a better unit overall even though specs seems to be the same

Had to go find this as i read it late last week. Not a direct answer to your question but what one person did to fix the same issue.

    https://www.dasaita.com/community/forum/topic/122067/microphone-background-noise

On page 3, there is talk about firm ware update to fix the noise.

No It's still being shipped still. Hopefully by the end of the month. I'm up in Canada and our Polar Bear delivery animals are a bit slow this time of year!

I just put in for https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLY8CJ6W?th=1

I too read about the microphone issues, but it seemed to be the built in one on the unit itself and not the external plug into the back and route up to the dash somewhere one. Should be here Thursday for me, and hopefully install this weekend, I'm kicking around ideas of where to route the external one. I have seen others utilize their stock location up in the headliner, but not sure if the wiring is going to be long enough to accommodate out of the box or if I will have to modify.

After you get it installed, download the following onto it and see what Android version it shows.

Will do, I saved that link you sent above too as well in case I run into similar microphone road noise issues. I hardly make/receive calls whilst driving anyway so it wasn't a huge concern for me when I read about it.

Just jumped on the Dasaita bandwagon.

    Just ordered this unit

Little expensive but, had all the options i wanted so why not.
Hopefully the sound quality for the mic isnt as bad as some say.

Probably going to need this adapter to retain factory GPS antenna

"should" be fairly easier from the reviews/videos I have seen, just so trim tools needed and 10mm. It all seems plug and play from there, minus the factor GPS antenna cable if you want to keep factory GPS. Ill probably run it with the new HU's and see how well it does first (I forgot about that initially until you posted up)

Its in! All working well, except the microphone... doesn't seem to be picking up anything, tried both the onboard and external microphone. I haven't yet checked the firmware but will do that tomorrow and resume troubleshooting. As for GPS on the unit, it seems to work ok even with me mounting the antenna directly to the top of the unit and stuff it back into place. Ill be using Android Auto for most everything anyway so navigation should be pulling from my phone at that point.

Yea I am liking it so far, still need to tinker around with it. Fits extremely well in the dash, like it was suppose to be there! Wife is coming around to possibly getting one for herself in the Rav4 now too :p

Got one for the Rav4 now too.. but due to it being a Limited I had to contact Dasaita to get the proper wiring harness. They were very responsive and will be shipping out a harness this week!
