I have 33's and went with 4.56's and I'm happy. Sometimes I do wonder what 4.88's would've been like. But I was afraid I'd kill my highway mileage even more. According to all the research I've done, 4.30 is perfect for 33's to get decent mileage and have improved low end performance.
4.56 is a step up in low end, but you lose hwy MPG, I imagine 4.88 continues that trend.

I paid a professional to install. Wasn't cheap.
A couple guys here have done it themselves. I hear it's complicated.

Wouldn't you want like the entire back skin of the cab to graft onto your cab and the motor to?
At very least the window frame, motor and window I would think anyways.

 

Yeah, realistically. Our AC/RC cab'd trucks have a back wall with window that bolts in. The setup on the DC is undoubtedly different in many ways, I assume there's some kind of channeled setup the window sets in, but I've never seen a DC 1GT with the rear trim off, exposing the window.

 

As awesome as a roll down back window AC would be.... And I do mean it would be undoubtedly the awesomest, unless someone made a RCSBSS with roll down back window and supercharger.

For now I'll just enjoy my Limited AC consolation prize of an electric sliding rear window.

Those with the limited options Limiteds are missing out.

 

I think the best part about being a 1GT owner is, I don't need to work multiple jobs to afford paying off the note on my truck.

Side bonus is, any money I need to spend on upgrades, it's easy to justify, "I'd have spent that on a car payment if I was one of these dumbasses with a later gen carrying a note..."

 

My friend with money sometimes question why I would spend so much money upgrading an old truck when I could just buy a new one... They just don't get it.

Idk it was working and then it didn’t lol. I haven’t messed with the fronts in what feels like a year. I did however push the truck on a little rear shock tuning session last night. I drove it roughly 50 minutes away and it gave way as I was pulling up to my destination. Who knows. Chalk it up to an old truck and the kid who owned it as I’ve been undoing his messes the past year.

 

I’m both, but I’m an idiot haha. I’ve also got a spreadsheet on what I’ve spent on this for aftermarket coverage for insurance and it’s well surpassed what this truck is worth. Still worth it.

 

Just for shits n giggles, I think I'm going to try this method a go with the Waltrip grille, I really don't want to buy a quart of Rage to skim coat something, and I don't like any of the products that come in 1pt/14oz containers.

Did you have the rubber inset around the inside edge of the steering wheel to sound the horn?

 

My friend had one of his as well. It was definitely quick, but no where scary quick as his Abarth that he stepped up to after that!

 

I believe those have the BMW motor which a a penchant to start sounding like a diesel & then implode. YMMV
I've not paid them much attention, but I've heard many that sound like a diesel & know of 3 that imploded.

I think a Fiat 500 might be a better choice. Abarth if you want noisy.

 

A few years back when I was on another forum somebody did this with a 2nd gen, and yes, he had to weld 2 bodies together. I assume it would be the same with a 1st Gen.

I have an OBD2 dongle for my GLI, but I need something I can do basic coding with. Like VAGCom for the Tundra. I need to know wtf is up with this CEL P0171 code. Shits not adding up

 

Same, it's been good to me.

 

I've used mine several times with various vee hickles. It did lead me astray once. It gave me an error code that didn't match the Ford FORSCAN software scan so I submitted an email the BlueDriver to let them know about the difference in codes between their software and the FORSCAN software.

 

I've used it on our Toyota/Honda/and 13 Ford Edge.
FORSKIN must be some proprietary thing? Like when I didn't have the second KeyFob and wanted to buy/program another one.... you need the two originals to do it yourself! WTF Ford... if I had the 2 originals I prob wouldn't need another one. Fuck you FORD,

 

Sometimes those generic scan tools can lead you astray just because they're designed to read all of the common codes.

In some cases they won't be able to read certain codes because they weren't designed for any specific vehicle make. Like 2 Corollas of a different trim level. The XLE may have a blind spot sensor where an LE doesn't. So the scanner may not be capable of reading the blind spot code because it doesn't know that that specific Corolla should be equipped with it.

Generic scanners are great overall though.

 

Yeas, the BlueDriver was telling me the problem was my rear parking aid signal circuit but my Ferd doesn't have the rear park aid. The FORSCAN software said it was the CHMSL lamp control, incorrect current consumption and sure enough, my 3rd brake light bulb was burned out, swapped it out, and it fixed my issues.

 

I've been eyeing a dagger to add to the flock as I'm lacking in full-size options. You running an optic? You Like?

 

Never heard of the dagger but damn, it looks good.

I'm making a trip to PSA here very soon for an AR. Gonna browse around those as well.
