    Read Shifty’s megathread. Timing belt, LBJs and radiator/correct coolant all critical. Mods like lifts cost money, increase maintenance and detract from resale. Only you can decide how you want to roll.

    What do you mean by "modify"? Like cut, chop, mangle? Or like put seat covers on it and remove some emblems/decals?

    There are at least two schools of thought, and I agree with both them.

    1. If you want to chop and cut a truck, find a beater and give it a second life. Leave pristine trucks for people who want a pristine truck to take care of.

    Or,

    2. It's your truck. Do what you want with it.

    They're both right, and they're both wrong.
