Looking to get some platinum seats with the switching for the heated/cooled seats to swap into my TRD pro. Has anyone done this or know where I can get some ? Would my best bet be to buy directly from Toyota ? I know this is a strange request but I find the TRD seats to kind of suck and with the summer getting hotter the ventilated seats would be a welcome break

The heated and ventilated seats are powered by the climate control.
Unless you already have that (and why would you) it isn't going to be an easy swap.
Your ECU may not be compatible to run those seats.

And not even knowing if it will work that climate control is $860..

Don't waste your money unless you just want the better leather. The Platinum "ventilated" seats are a complete joke. Had I'd known how weak sauce the fan is, I *might* have gotten the TRD Pro instead of the Platinum.

Pretty sure my laptop's fan is more powerful. It is not ducted A/C, so you get the air from under the seat. If it's warm, your butt's warm.

I originally was going to get the platinum but found a black TRD Pro and knew I’d modify the platinum if I stuck with it. I like the TRD pro but it leaves a lot on the table compared to the F150 limited I had.

Well the F-150's ventilated seats actually work quite well, as do some GM's. Not sure why Toyota couldn't figure it out.

As long as Toyota figured out the reliability and not get stolen like my Ford I’m good!

EXACTLY THIS ABOVE! 100% Don't waste your money!

I was looking at both the Platinum and the Pro and one of the reasons I went with the Platinum was for the ventilated seats and what a mistake. It is literally a fan under the seat which blows the ambient cabin air upward. It doesn't have any dedicated A/C vents running to the seat cooling fan (pretty sure that's why they refer to them as ventilated seats and not Cooled seats) Biggest joke ever by Toyota.

And the Power of the fan is weak as hell and a total joke as stated above....I don't even feel it, you can't even tell it's on other than the image on the A/C display.

For comparison, just last week I was in a Ford Expedition as a rental on a trip and Oh man that had a seat cooler that kept my nuts nice and chilly as well as cooled your lower back.

It seems your mind has been made up for you, but to really drive it home, I'll chime in and say I can't agree with comments enough. The factory 2.5-Gen Platinum "cooled" seats are terrible. They're ventilated, and very poorly at that. My 2022 Camry has heated and cooled seats, but they actually work well... Toyota figured it out.

You could look into Katzkin covers, they make heated and cooled perforated seat skins now. Not cheap but their products get great reviews. The heat/cool function apparently works decently well.

I test drove a 3rd gen and was amazed at the improvement of the ventilated seats. You could actually hear the fan. My '18 sometimes feels if I wet myself and forgot.
