    Anyone ever live there ?

Going to be making the move in November. I've been over much of this earth but never there, so my wife and I are going to move and enjoy ourselves. Super excited

Which part of Thailand. I lived and worked in Bangkok for few years but had a place in Hua Hin for weekends and vacations and stuff.

Take advantage of proximity and visit all the cool countries in around Thailand. There are hundreds of islands there and is even better if you're into sailing.

And steer clear of Nana Plaza behind the JW Marriott , your wife ain't gonna like it :)

    Well, I'm not wrong.

He is bringing his wife so...this will not be an issue. From everyone that has gone that I know didn't want to come back.

Bangkok wasn’t named that by accident…
Played golf at Pinehurst near Bangkok. Had a fore-caddy with a long stick. What’s the stick for? Cobras..:eek2: Upside was always had a good lie and a shot at the green. Gave the guy an extra $10 at the end of the round and you’d think he just won the lottery.
Won’t forget some of the things I saw at Tora, Tora, Tora nightclub.

    Kanchanaburi.

I have a friend thats lived there for years and know another expat. We're selling everything and moving. I'll be retired with more than enough money, even if we stayed here. Traveling is high on the list, can't wait to explore the coast.
We're renting a traditional Thai home for 90.00 a month, 3/2 with western toilets. Same street as the other two guys.

As for the women, my wife is 33 and I'm 61. She's already gonna kill me but what a way to die.

Get you a spot in Hua Hin, very large expat community like 3 hours away from Bangkok. You and your wife will appreciate the expats more than the locals. If wife is thai then yes stay in Bangkok I guess. Besides, Hua Hin is very laid back and clean and police is on top of everything there, is where the thai king resides. For $70-90K you can get a very nice western style 2 bedrooms and and almost beach front or close enough. I sold mine and purchased something in Malaysia, Langkawi island where I can store my sailing boat for free.

Yeh we're both water people, we may or may not stay in Kanchanaburi but it'll be fine to base out of. I'll check out Hua Hin for sure.

The hardest part is selling all my gun stuff. I was an 07/SOT for 15 yrs, its going to take a bit. lol

Yeap, is beautiful there. There are over 1400 islands around Thailand and if you are into sailing that's the best way to visit places and islands. I call it island hopping :) I keep my sailing boat for free in Langkawi and from there I can hop on any island in matter of hours.

Singapore is way to clean for may taste. Got no DNA, no texture for me. Like a postcard. I like Hong Kong better than Singapore for sure.

Well, son married a girl from there he met in navy academy. She was at John Hopkins. I’ll just say he married well. Singapore is awesome but I’d go crazy it being so small.

Son has been to Malaysia a few times, likes it, but says it’s like going to TJ from San Diego.

Again, I can’t wait to go back to that region.

Lots of pollution in Bangkok. If at all possible, get out into the countryside, much better air quality. Good luck with the move!

So this is new construction, and considered Thai/western because it has doors and windows. The rent for both the Red 2/2 and the Blue 2/1 is 160.00 a month.
We'll be staying in the Blue one until we find our own place.
High speed internet is 20.00 a month

    Getting close.
I've sold most all of my guns, AR and Glock stuff, reloading stuff etc. Still have a BUNCH of AK stuff to get off of.
Ever inventory ALL of your stuff ? How does a non knife guy end up with 16 quality knives, no junk. Flashlights ? Over a dozen. Optics ? Don't even ask. I thought I had 30K primers, turns out I had 90K +.

Un ass off the AK stuff and then sell my truck and that will be the last big thing I need to do.

I have a weakness for anything with a motor. They do a LOT of racing, from Rice tractors to boats to Grand Prix. Theres an off road park and drift track 2 miles form the house.
