Well just seems like your being obtuse now…1st gear has the most mechanical advantage and hybrids “help” that lugging, plus people don’t tow 8,000 pounds 24/7 stop and go, it’s mostly highway, where tow/haul is not going to let you accelerate in 10th gear….
I was just asking if it was mechanically possible…just trying to think and not just gossip and bitch and moan…and yes, I sleep like a baby.

True but it tends to be people who don't have the truck or kmow people who have the truck with issues. It is never the actual owner or owners. Hey I own a tundra hybrid and it has work flawlessly so far. The people who tend to get the loudest are the ones who want something for nothing. Like was previously stated what is toyota going to do for non owners. Like Toyota owes you something for buying their truck, buy it or don't, doubt they care cause they are selling 100 plus thousand a year. So somebody is buying them.

Has Toyota ever given a estimated date of when they would announce the remedy for the safety recall?

I just posted that few minutes ago ha. Hybrid pro being torn down. I probably prefer cab off than the other method.

This is what's ultimately worrying. We know Toyota's track record here with all of our other recalls.

The real pickle is...what do you replace the Tundra with after you get to this place? (guy who's considering a 3.0L Duramax test drive tomorrow)

The comments in that video is ROFL, one dude saying the turbos twist the aluminum and ladder frame cracking the block was like wut?

I have had 500 plus wheel horsepower cars with 28 lbs of boost and I never cracked the block, lol

Yeah I would vastly pissed if they tried to pass this off on me, and would lemon out the truck no doubt. This is not recall though it could be one of trucks which has led to a recall but that is 22 year model correct-

That is when they mail the recall notification. Where did they state they'd have a remedy available?

Critical thinking doesn't take math skills does it?

You can't change the percentages and the fact of the matter is that the hybrid is not in the recall so if any percent fail it will be on a case by case basis for toyota to approve warranty repairs. I could care less if your blue in the face, hate your tundra, hate toyota or whatever.

You are free to sell it and buy whatever you want. Coming into an echo chamber to amplify an issue which may or may not affect your truck is just bandwagoning and complaining. My 10 year old truck is much better than a new one and I don't have to have a truck payment. Well good for you, drive it dor a million miles and maybe you can get toyota to give you a free truck. Which it sounds like most of you all want. Like toyota owes you something for buying their products.

Yes, LOL... it took them ~ 6 months to develop the remedy and ~another 6 months to send some new hold down bolts for the tonneau cover safety recall.

    Here’s my 2 cents.
Regardless Toyota will make this right.

My take is that the debri from engine manufacturing is sorta correct. Sure it’s a quick answer and sure debri is in some engines but seriously do you really think that it was from the machining?

No way! did you all go back and watch the Toyota Alabama engine building process/assembly lines for the Tundra engines? Way too many people involved in putting together the engines. Each piece is meticulously assembled.
Just like the turbo debacles in the very beginning, I believe a certain part in the engines are out of spec. This is why Japan is also having the same problem. Whatever the part of failure is. I believe it is causing the metal shaving debris in the engines.
Like the Car Nut said this is probably why he sees part # changes in the engine parts log.
Toyota only knows and they will make it right. It doesn’t change the fact for all of us that it really sucks and it affects us and our families.
I hope that Toyota not only fixes our trucks but really hits it out of the park.

    my 2 cents.

They changed the block so all use the same block as the hybrid (we have known this for a while per Ryan) but Hybrids were also failing. There was a cam part that likely wasnt related and part of the main bearing was being replaced, but that did not happen until late in the 24 build cycle. So why are 24s failing at a much slower rate? It appears a fraction of 24s are failing compared to 22s at a similar age/mileage cycle based on what has been reported.

Toyota analyzed good engines and rechecked their bearing testing before issuing the recall. I'm not saying you are wrong that it is not a part or design issue, but the changes to parts don't seem to be a smoking gun.

My Tundra failed while towing a trailer. I was doing about 50 and I got an indication that my steering had no power and realized the engine had died. Was on a two lane road with a semi behind me and no shoulder to pull over on. Started it back up and drove a little bit further to a shoulder then indicator said no oil pressure and the engine died again. And no cell phone coverage there either. Not a fun situation.

What about the fuel line remedy? When are they going to fix that issue? Such an issue should have a quick permanent remedy yet we are still waiting. I’m not optimistic Toyota will address the engine failure issue in a timely and equitable manner. I am guessing they will do the cheapest option. I do hope for those effected will be made whole.

Sorry to hear of the failure. Wouldn’t ever want to be in that type of situation, especially if you had family with you.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
It's interesting that you noticed the lack of oil pressure. Some owners have reported black debris in their drain pan after an oil change. My first thought was casting sand not being properly cleaned and wearing out the oil pump as it's passed to the filter but the Toyota blocks aren't produced using sand. Molten aluminum is pushed into a mold instead. Although they heads do use a black sand but it's used to form the ports. Maybe some of that sand isn't getting removed.
Manufacturers have been sand casting for decades maybe centuries so it's hardly likely Toyota being as quality minded would screw it up.
I know I'm looking hard at selling my 21 and getting a 24 or 25. They will make it right.
