Buy a used unit from ebay and take it apart. There are little "bushings" that go on the vertical tilt point of the vent on either side, yours are probably worn out

Use plastic interior pry tools. They are tricky to reinstall

You might could try some tape behind your bushings as a shim to increase the tension on your vent

The outer black housing has holes to accommodate the bushings, you'll see em. Don't lose em, they're small as fuck

Are they vent specific, or universal? Based on what I saw 3 years ago, they appear to be universal

All I know is, when I was digging up parts for my '06, when the bare woodgrain panel arrived, and I had to move all the buttons, switches, vents, HVAC controls, other parts, etc. over, they snapped right in.

I don't have any of those buttons in that thread anymore. I could measure crackie, but I can't and won't take that bezel apart

    I don't have the time

No sweat, I have access to a suitable bezel, neighbor down the street. I'll get around to it some day, IKYK.
