The JBL Head unit locks up and or cuts out periodically on my 2014 CM. Sometimes the unit cuts out and restarts, sometimes it freezes but keeps playing whatever is on but you can't change the volume or power it off. The unit will unfreeze if you turn off the engine and turn it back on, less than ideal on long trips. I would like to take care of it as cheaply as possible. I've done a quick check of connectors and don't see any lose or chewed on wires or connectors, I really don't want to put money into a new radio set-up. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The unit is dying a slow death. Once they start doing this it’s just a matter of time until it dies completely. You don’t have to spend any money but you will be traveling in silence very shortly. This is a common issue. You can pick up one of these head units on eBay or used but be careful as there are apparently at least three different versions of the jbl head unit and you can only tell by looking at the back of the head unit and making sure it’s exactly like yours.

    Have you updated the firmware?

OK. Thank you @Iamsecond and @bfunke . I see if I can figure out how to update the firmware before I look at swapping it out.
