FRAC Harness NOW AVAILABLE FOR ORDER

The FRAC Harness is once again available for ordering at www.fracharness.com. Harnesses are now being manufactured and delivered by AutoHarnessHouse.

As I stated in the opening post, I have a friend who is already in the aftermarket mod business. He wants keep the FRAC Harness alive!

We're working through the details, but the FRAC Harness will be available once again in the not-to-distant future.

Hey FRAC Friends,[/COLOR]

With our parts inventory running low, an inability to procure new connectors for 2022+ vehicles, and reduced demand from the 2014-2021 market, we're approaching the end of life for the FRAC Harness.

What began 7 years ago as a DIY project to add a front camera to my Tundra evolved into a business venture I never saw coming. The FRAC design evolved over the years to keep pace with Toyota’s changes. However, in 2022, Toyota started using new connectors, apparently made from "Unobtanium," with their panoramic multi-camera design.

Although my circuit design should still work with the changes, I can’t build a plug-and-play solution to test or sell without the connectors. So, I’ll continue to sell what inventory I have in stock, but after that, I will be closing up the FRAC shop. I am working with a friend in the mod parts business who is considering taking over production of the FRAC harness. I'll provide updates here on the forum if that happens.

I am grateful to everyone who supported the FRAC Harness over the years. I’ve found deep satisfaction in producing a quality product for appreciative and loyal customers. Your friendship, participation, enthusiasm, feedback, and shared adventures have been awesome.

Im just curious with your research and expertise, what is the best solution now to try to add a front camera to trims that didnt come with? Any help in coming to a solution would be great. Is OEM possible if your trim didnt originally come with a front or 360 camera?

Where you able to get one wired up and working, without connectors but butt splice/alternative methods?

Man such a bummer to hear this! Was one of the first folks I think to jump on board and kept that unit across 2-3 tundras. Picked up a used one for the Seqouia….. debating grabbing one last unit for if I inherit my dads 21 tundra at some point down the road!

 

@TundraTex Just wanted to say thank you for your time, effort, and engineering prowess to create & bring the FRAC harness to market. Without realizing it, I believe I got one of the last remaining units for the 2021 when I ordered a couple of months ago. Had I known it was nearing the end, I would’ve ordered 2! One to install and one to keep sealed as a collector’s edition and asked for your autograph on it.

In all seriousness, garage/DIY engineers with great ideas who bring their own products to market are a very rare breed nowadays. Just wanted to say, again, thanks for everything you’ve done/still doing to support the community. I wish you all the best on whatever the next chapter holds for you!

Just getting back from a nice off-grid vacation... The 20-21 harnesses are gone and there are not many 14-19 units left. Thanks for the nice comments, gents. It's been a great run.

 

You: I'm shutting down the FRAC harness business... Me: Franticly searching through box of yet to install mods... finds FRAC harness. Phew...

 

I received my order over the past couple of weeks. I've been eyeing it for years. Thanks for your tremendous contribution.

 

Well, it happened... This week I shipped the final FRAC harness. Kinda strange to say that when reflecting on the past seven years.

Although the time has come to close the FRAC shop, the friendships and memories built will endure. My heart-felt thanks to all of you who are a part of that history and to the folks that keep this place up and running. The FRAC may have never been more than a one-off garage experiment had it not been for the greatest Tundra forum on the planet!

I'm still lurking and will still be around for any questions. It just might take a little while to respond as I am spending more time off-grid while figuring out this retirement thing along the way.

The website is still up for now, and I still have a few OEM style VIM and Camera select switches available. Also have some remaining Video Switch Modules. So if you need some of those, get 'em while they last!

Just seeing this thread and now completely bummed. Was planning to get one for my 2020 as a Christmas gift to myself later this year. My loss.

I'm hoping everything works out with the new supplier. I'm a relatively new owner of a 2020 Tundra, and I was just thinking the other day that it would be great to have a camera on the front of the truck. That led me here to realize I just missed out on what seems to be a great product.

Finally have time to get back to working on my '21 only to discover that a) 7 years have passed since I first read about this skunkworks project and b) they're no longer available.

 

Parts are on order…

 

Keep me posted and i'll purchase one. Just got a 2021 crewmax and want to add a front camera option.

Good news! Just got notification that the new batch of FRAC circuit boards are now assembled. No shipping date available yet, but we are getting closer.

If you are seeing this or following this thread and are interested in ordering when the new kits are ready, please respond to this post so I have a better idea of how many we'll need to build up for the initial batch. Please indicate your year model.
