Went up to Wiseman's View in the Linville Gorge area of WNC. Not anything real challenging, but a decent forest road trip for the first time in my new truck. To my surprise, the transmission temp did climb multiple times during slow hill climbs.

We don't have the magnitude of views and off roading you all do out west. Really enjoy seeing the other pics posted so hope you all enjoy these.

I always feel like my tundra is in too high of a gear when sowing down for obstacles that require throttle input to go over. Like riding the clutch in 3rd when you should be in 1st. I assume this generates extra heat

I drive off road mostly in 2nd gear. Keeps the RPMs above 2k and even loaded I don’t usually have trans temp alerts like I did in DRIVE. Then I just shift like a manual if I need a different gear going up or down. Low range with the power is pretty awesome but you are definitely limited on top speed. I’ve never gotten a high temp alert in Low range as it spins up the motor more

I use manual mode often if slow going off road. Even certain instances like picking my kids up when going up the hill with speed bumps. Hopefully a software update becomes available. Kinda annoying

yep, i did a couple hills in 2nd. stayed about 1900-2000 rpm's which was about right. Thought that would help with my trans temp, but it didn't. Guess I will be buying a scanner to keep an eye on the actual temp.

Few pictures from work today. Checking on harvest operations. It was very dusty and I forgot to open my tonneau cover a bit to decrease the negative pressure that sucks the dust in. What a mess when I opened my tailgate. The logging trucks haul and it rained last weekend so the mud comes to the top then hot and dry all week turns it to talcum powder.

Funny I didn't take alot of fish pics. I left my phone and keyfob in the truck most of the time so I wouldn't fry them in saltwater and get stranded.
Caught alot of bluefish, whiting and lizard fish. A couple spanish and a few slot red's. Lost 4 sharks biting through my leader. Heres a few pics i do have. I sometimes use my size 13 as a reference lol. My buddy got some amazing shots of the milky way. IMG_1697.jpg IMG_1711.jpg IMG_1715.jpg IMG_2103.jpg IMG_2045.jpg

Took 15 rigs to Blue Lake MT for night 1 and then to Flathead River which is the border to Glacier NP for night 2. Such a beautiful area

That's awesome! Looks like a fun time. Do people hire you to take them offroading/adventuring, or is it just a group of friends that you do things with?

We are a part of overlandbound.com which is a forum based adventure site that promotes vehicle dependent travel. It doesn’t matter what you drive just that your vehicle is equipped and capable for the trip. I organize my local area meet up and it’s been an awesome way to get to know people and do fun stuff, like this trip. There’s a calendar on there and you can search your area of the country (or world) and see what’s happening locally.

I don’t get paid, other than having some great friends through the process. I moved to North Idaho and didn’t know a single person and now 1.5 years later I’ve got 20-30 friends. In one of the photos you can see the huge ring of people around the campfire, we have some hilarious discussions and great times with kids and dogs running all around. And of course I poke fun at Jeeps the whole time.

This is one of the most interesting nuggets I've gotten from this forum. Thanks for sharing.

1000 mile trip to visit my in-laws new ranch in central Montana. 15 mile dirt road in and my brother-in-law was laughing with joy when we hit 70mph on the straights! Corners so well in 4WD.
