I bought the Viofo 3 camera dash cam and I’m having issues with getting the passenger and rear camera to stick to anything. I have a capstone with the full ceiling sunroof so there’s not much to try and mount it to. When I try the ceiling headliner, it just falls of after a while so I tried just placing it on the huge head rest (actually a perfect spot) and the glue just gets so hot it melts. I even used a small strip of Velcro and it still melts the glue and falls off (even with 7% tint on the back, moon roof and 15% on side windows). For the passenger camera, I mounted it right on the plastic for the mirror (the first small piece you take out), it just falls off.

I guess I need some help here, what am I doing wrong, what would get these cameras to stick???

I have had good luck with the 3m product as well. I use it for my GoPro mounts. Just use some ISO alcohol to clean any oils off the glass before applying the 3m stuff.

I use 3M VHB tape, never had a problem in past, I live in the NE so between heat and cold it works fine.
Use rubbing alcohol to clean off the mounting surfaces real well or it won't stick as effectively.

I was able to mount my rear camera to the rubber weatherstripping/moulding at the center of the rear window. The area I stick the tape to on my camera has a small footprint, I was worried there would not be enough surface area for it to stick to but it's been fine.

    Amazon.com: 3M Scotch 5952 VHB Tape: 1/2 in. x 15 ft. (Black) : Industrial & Scientific

You need to buy a bracket from this company for the rear camera. The long version bracket type. Search their site for brackets.

i used the double sided tape that came with viofo camera. has worked perfectly for the front windshield and the truck sits outside 24/7 since we bought it in feb-2023. have it mounted to the front glass just behind the passenger side of the rear view mirror, i mounted it directly to the glass not via the funky static shield.

I second that, worked great for the rear on mine. IMG_2437.jpg

Also keep in mind that normal tint does zero for heat rejection, u need ceramic tint to reject heat transfer.

Gorilla Tape makes something similar to 3M VHB, it can withstand working temps up-to 248F, you can buy it at Lowes
