    Should I worried about rubbing?

Only on the wings of the skid plate. But those are a quick cut off and the front tiny mudflap. There’s a decent amount of room.

285/75/18 on TRD stock wheels, no spacers, no rubbing.

    5100s middle setting, no shims

I trimmed about 3” off each side of the skidplate as a precautionary action, it was close but did not hit.

    Small front max flap removed

    Clears the UCA about 3/4”

if you add wheel spacers, it was rub significantly.

I have 9k miles on this size tire and set up and have run into zero issues, only compliments.

I have 2020 TRD PRO, I plan to get the Toyo AT3 285/75/18, install the TRD front sway bar and 1.25" wheel spacers. If I add the spacers, how much modifications would I need to do?

Might need to remove the mud flaps or trim them.

Hey all. 2017 CM here. Stock wheels, 5100's on top setting with Coachbuilder shackles for the rear. I have Nitto RG 285/75r18's and am super skeptical if they will fit or not. Any thoughts? Reading through the thread, it seems like they would fit but I'm still skeptical. I am ok with removing mudflaps if need be and can manipulate the fender liner with a heat gun. Also fine with trimming an inch or 2 from the skid plate. Anything else I should worry about? Also plan on towing a 6-7klb camper next summer. Think it would be better to go with 285/70r18's? I appreciate all the feedback!

Go with the 285/75r18 and get back to us. I’m thinking about getting some 285/75r18 for my trd pro wheels soon.

They fit with stock +60 wheels, so yes, and will fit with 2 inch lift, which is where you are at. Big yes.

Reviving an old thread. I’m getting FN BFG wheels with a +18 offset. I have a 21 TRD Pro. I would like to run a 285/75/18 which I know a lot of you guys have had success with the stock wheels. My question is the +18 gonna cause me more issues? I don’t mind removing mudflaps or massaging plastic. maybe a similar setup would be stock wheels with spacers and a 285/75/18? Anyone doing that on a trd pro?

I am set up like a PRO, 2 inch lift in front, and run 285/75-18 on stock wheels. Any less offset than the stock +60 would have me rubbing. Ive kept the mudflaps, had to remove the little air spats at front of bumper. Everything fits well.

You will need to lose the mudflaps and probably do a bumper spacer for 285/75 and +18 to +25 offset wheels, and get a good alignment.

Great info but i don’t see (might have missed it) any mention of tire pressure with 295/70’s or 285/75’s. I recently went to 285/75 Falken Wild Peaks and the handling has diminished to say the least. Running 42 all four corners. I’m running a 20 TRD Pro DC, stock wheels. I must be off on my tire pressure??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Huge thanks in advance.

Which Falken Wildpeak? What is the load Rating? For E Load tires I would start right where you are at and go up/down 2-3 psi at a time to find the right setup.

42psi is high IMO. Any psi north of 39, and the center of your tread is going to wear faster than the outsides. Even a 2nd gen Tundra isn't heavy enough to create the proper contact patch on an E load LT tire at higher psi. I run mine around 37-38. Handling is much better than even at 40, although it's a going to be a different ballgame than with SL passenger rated tires for sure. I will say that internal bypass TRD Fox suspension helps when daily driving E load LTs.

I'd try 37 psi all the way around. It's a balancing act between mpg and ride comfort. That seems to be the sweet spot for me.

I've never run them, but Falkens also seem to be extra heavy for their size.

In my case, when I ran 38, I had excessive wear on the edges of the the tires, but the ride quality was obviously better. Once I went to 42 cold, the tire wear evened out, but the ride got a little more harsh. I prioritized tire wear, myself. Of course, all of this is tire dependent. In my case, at the moment, I'm running Nitto Ridge Grapplers (E) Load and can't wait for them to come to end of life as I hate these tires.

I’m not sure there is a single tire that a majority of people love so much at first but hate toward the end as the Nitto Ridge Grappler.

Regarding tire wear, I wonder if your truck is heavier than mine. The tires themselves are also a factor. My previous post is based solely on running Duratracs, which I have been very happy with in this size. On my second set.

My Tundra TRD Pro is pretty much stock, as far as weight goes. The only addition that would affect weight has been a Diamondback SE.

I've been incredibly happy with the Duratracs (E) on my wife's Wrangler as she is getting 70-75K on a 5 tire rotation and they are super consistent throughout their life. We run 36 psi on her rig and that has been perfect! I'm leaning towards those as my next tires, but also very curious about the new Wildpeak AT4W...

I like the Duratracs so much I put them on my wife’s LX. SL rated 275/60R20. Hers are the new RT version. Better tread and siping.

I wish the RT had been available in 285/75R18 last Sept; I would’ve put them on my truck too.

I had 285/75/85 Goodyear Duratraks installed today. They were takeoffs from a Tremor, $1120 out the door mounted and balanced. I removed the little front mud flap before I had them put on. They fit like they were meant to be there from the beginning. There is small piece of plastic next to the bumper mud flap that was mangled or hit by a rock and protrudes into the tire from being deformed, but a pair of snip will fix that. Stock 21 TRD Pro. The ride is stiffer, but feels improved to me. I’ll do some more testing to see if there is any rub that was missed before leaving the tire shop, but it was spot on. Even my wife likes how they look! Hello, I having 285/75/18 Toyo Open Country’s put on next week and I was planning on installing Westcott Designs preload collar and leaving the top 1/2” spacer off this weekend. But after reading your post, I almost want to stay stock on front end.

Do you mind confirming you are completely stock 2021 TRD PRO? I like the looks of yours and don’t want to lift it I don’t have to. Any other mods or trimming?

    Thanks

It’s completely stock up front. Remember, every tire will be a bit different and one mfr’s tire might rub in a size and another mfr’s tire might not. I’m going to put the Eibach springs on the front which is very similar in lift to the westcott.

The Duratraks say they’re 35.1” diameter, Toyos 34.8” diameter. So assuming same width, I’m hoping to clear everything.

Probably similar width, but even Westcott explains in their videos that for people wanting to run a 35/12.5/18, only some mfr tires will have no rub based on tread design. I’m planning to re gear (gears and limited slip ordered) and will tow a travel trailer to far off destinations, park it in a camp ground, and then do some light exploring. Changing to this tire, completely changed the truck in a good way. My opinion.

I finally got mine installed. So happy with the results. No rubbing.

I took the plastic liner in the front out and mud flaps off.
