So, I am nearing 50,000 miles on my 3rd Gen & can’t seem to find a single thing out there about the process.

Capacity: 10 speed AJA0E Total Fill 11.7 quarts.
    Capacity: 5.3 quarts Initial Fill.

From Amsoil website, so my guess is I’m gonna need 12 quarts if I’m gonna do a full fluid swap, but again, just wondering if the process is incredibly straightforward or if it’s different than previous gen Tundras?

Any feedback or anyone that’s actually done the transmission service at 50K would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done it, so no assist from me. However, most trans don't drain the full capacity; the torque converter retains a significant amount. You may have to do several "drain and fill" events unless you disconnect a trans cooler line and run the engine/trans to force fluid out while simultaneously pumping replacement fluid in (same as flushing?).

At least on my beloved 15 Tacoma. I drained the pan, measure what comes out. Add that amount back. Disconnect the outlet line from the transmission. Take a gallon jug. If 4 qrts came out of the pan, measure 3 qrts in the gallon jug. Start the truck and pump out 3 qrts. Repeat process till the fluid is clean.

It is essentially the same procedure as the years prior. When did a drain and fill on my 3rd gen I got right at a gallon when pulling the plug and fill tube. You can go a step further and disconnect the return line coming back to the transmission from the cooler, dump it into a measuring bucket while then pumping fresh fluid back into the pan. about 2 gallons is remaining in the transmission and converter after the fluid in the pan is done draining. Also, be gentle with the plastic fill tube that screws into the pan.. Easy to break if you get over zelous with it. lightly hand tighten, maybe a few Nm at most.

Whatever you end up doing, I would recommend either Castrol Trans-max Full-Synthetic or Redline AT6. I had some Redline on hand so used it, but it is pricey and hard to find. Otherwise, I probably would have used Castrol due to the price point. You can check out specifications and read plenty about both at bobistheoilguy.com. Both of these significantly out perform Toyota WS which is an ok formulation and not full synthetic. Fine if you are replacing it often. Not so much if you plan on keeping the truck a while and are not changing the transmission fluid often.

I do not believe the new trucks use WS fluid anymore. Are they all still compatible?

I’ve been told the 10 speed uses WS. Same for the transfer case if you have 4x4.

So if I’m essentially going to be draining & filling until clean fluid comes out, would you guys say I’d be safe with 2x gallon jugs? I exclusively use Amsoil & sheesh this stuff ain’t cheap! Runs about $73/gallon…they do have a 2.5 gallon jug for $180, so maybe that’s a safer route?

Thoughts? Feel like I’m putting liquid platinum into my transmission!

I can confirm that is what the 2024 Tundra owners manual on the Toyota website says.

I’ve used Amsoil SS blue cap ATF in a 15 Tacoma and Honda Pilot which take’s DW1. Both shift great. The Tundra will get the same.

Why do it yourself? When they replace your engine for free you will get a free transmission fluid change!

Would they have to drain the tranny fluid when they replace the engine?
