For a better part of a decade, work mandate forced me to keep diag/repair certs in Dell Laptops/Desktops/Printers/Servers. Over my career, I found these 7480s to be some of the most reliable & easily serviceable laptops of any we managed, far better than any of the HP garbage or the touchbar MacBooks we issued out.

Naturally, after spinning down our shop recently, we all walked away with a fair amount of hardware (legitimately), and I specifically honed in on the 7450 and 7480 Latitudes. I've spent the last couple months refurb'ing a ton of Dell and Apple systems, donated several to charitable causes, then saved the best of best for friends, a few of my 1st Gen brethren and their families, and have a couple of the remaining best-of-the-best 7480s up for sale here.

    Laptop specs...
    • Dell Latitude 7480
    • Windows 10 Professional
    • 7th Gen** Intel Core i7-7600U processor @2.8GHz (2 core, 4 thread, FULL SPECS HERE)
    • 500 GB M.2 SSD storage (M.2 SATA, not NVMe)
    • 16 GB of DDR4 RAM
    • 14" LCD display @ 1920 x 1080 resolution (1080p HD)
    • Integrated Webcam
    • Backlit keyboard
    • Built-in Bluetooth and wifi
    • Wired ethernet
    • Genuine OEM Dell power brick (65w or 90w)
    • FREE: 128 GB Samsung FIT USB thumb drive (~$20-30 value)
** Windows 11 is only supported on 8th Gen Intel processors, so this laptop is NOT compatible Windows 11 (though Gen 7 CPUs are absolutely powerful enough, Microsoft refused support).
To set expectations, The Core i7 CPU in these is pretty stout, when paired up with 16-32 GB of RAM, you can do a hell of a lot. You likely won't be doing hardcore AutoCAD rendering on these. You likely won't be editing full-length movies on these in Adobe Premiere Pro. You probably won't be composing your 2 hour opus in ProTools and Ableton on it. You won't be playing Doom: Eternal at highest graphic settings. It's not that kind of laptop.

However, you can support virtualization easily. My kids create models to 3D print on them. They edit YouTube videos, play Minecraft, Roblox, Valorant, and a host of Steam games on them. They watch movies, chat with friends, and do absurd amounts of school work. They're "capable enough" for all that stuff. At their heart, these are enterprise-level business laptops and are great for productivity purposes. Maybe they're equally good for your teenager? Maybe you need a shop laptop and this is a good fit? Maybe you need a laptop to run VirtualBox on, so you can load Techstream on it to diagnose your Tundra? If so, I think it's a good candidate and still has ample life left in current condition.

    What I'm looking to get...
    • $120 SHIPPED for any laptop (except ...)
    • For an extra $20 I'll double the RAM (i.e. 32 GB total)
I also have a small horde of parts pulled from laptops that weren't worth restoring if you're hunting parts...
    • 8 GB stick DDR4 for $10 (for laptops, not desktops! Misc brands)
    • 512 GB M.2 SATA for $20 (SATA, not NVMe! Misc brands)
    • 256 GB M.2 SATA for $10 (SATA, not NVMe! Misc brands)
    • A stack of 256 GB and 512 GB Samsung Pro 2.5" SATA SSD for $8 and $12/ea respectively
What you can expect buying one from me...

Single laptops will be packed in a specially-designed laptop shipping box, sent UPS, overinsured. Ask anyone that's bought from me on here: I try my best to get stuff out same-day, and usually ship UPS 3-day.

Laptop has been fully tested with on-board diagnostics to pass, and also tested for basic functionality in Windows. All drivers are current. Windows digital license applied. No missing devices in Windows Device Manager.

Laptop lived in a temp/humidity controlled, low-dust non-smoking environment, and had its internals cleaned to a level most would consider "REFURBISHED", and is verified as spill- and accident-free.

Laptop battery will be free of swelling. It will either be OEM or aftermarket, and were checked to report "EXCELLENT" battery health status in BIOS at ship time.

Windows 10 will be freshly installed with a generic account named "Dell", no password set. Laptop comes with a perpetual digital license for Windows 10. If you choose to wipe the laptop using Microsoft's ESD/Media Builder tool, it'll automatically reapply the same Windows 10 Professional license after it connects to the internet (as long as you haven't modified the hardware significantly). If you do reinstall, be careful not to blow away the Dell Diagnostic partition!

Laptop will have at least a couple obvious of use, such as: Scuffs or marks on the chassis. Light touchpad and keyboard wear. I saw one has an LCD with a hot pixel. They will not come with egregiously cracked plastics, busted hinges, cracked screens, sticky keys. In my professional opinion, they're in great shape, nothing obnoxious affecting operation, no dead skin on keys, no computer mites ... most spent their life on a docking station, unopened unless traveling on airplanes or into meetings.

And for the nitty-gritty on what it WILL NOT come with:
    • The laptop will not come with malware, RATs, or similar bullshit on it. Believe me you have nothing remotely interesting enough for me to catch a charge over!
    • It will not with any extra software (productivity, security, or otherwise other than Windows Defender/native Windows tools).
    • It will not come with any form of warranty beyond what most people consider reasonable, i.e. this is me saying, "I stand by my hardware, this was my profession for eons ... but you giving me money doesn't mean I'm your new tech support guy or I'm going to come save your ass if you crash it!" and I think the low price reflects exactly that.
That said ... buy with confidence. Ask around, my rep is good. I've sold a LOT of stuff to a lot of people on this forum, and I can direct you to other forums and you'll find me on eBay with 100% feedback as a buyer and seller. If you have concerns and want to chat with other members who've gotten something technology in weeks/months past, PM me. I'll get you in touch.

Sorry for the long sale ad! I think this is one of those things where it's important to outline exactly what's being offered for the price, so there's no confusion.

Here's some pics so you know what to expect. Note: I included images showing 32GB of RAM here as proof these laptops *WILL* support a full 32 GB of RAM, and Windows 10 will fully utilize all of it. Just in case you actually do want to spin up a few VMs in VMware or VirtualBox and have confidence it'll keep on truckin'

Considering it’s stupid low pricing, you could prob sell some feet pix, and preserve your kidneys for something else.

But, but, will it make my truck go faster???
Also, will it come with the world-known "`shifty approved" sticker?

Hehe..... those are good solid work laptops, not fancy gaming style ones.
Even if the specs are not very up-to-date today, it is still very capable, minus making your truck run like a clapped out Civic.....

Obviously you guys have a lot of ways to make money on the side, sorry doing all I can with little to nothing. I have things I bought before I lost the job that are finally coming in. IF I can get $$ for feet pix then I am sure I could haul a hell of a lot more in with other pics

Get back on your feet and keep charging forward. I’ve been in your shoes before. The sun will still rise tomorrow, I promise.

I can empathize with a lot of that. I know I'm fortunate, I at least got paid to leave, it was a blessing, and they let us divy up anything that didn't make sensr to ship to our main soon-to-be-spun-down main site closer to you. The two combined gave me a buffer to spend probably what'll be the last carefree summer I'll ever get with the kids. The oldest will be driving soon, and stuff won't be the same after. And hardware sales paid for two small truck purchases (under $1k) I was hoping to clear sooner than later. I really gotta find a car for the oldest soon, though, so I'm job hunting again.

If you really need one of these to get you by, or you could get by with a MacBook Pro (I think I've got one nicely equipped mid-2015 quad core 15" left), drop me a PM. I'm sure we can work something out. But for fucks sake, no feet pics please. Send 'em to one of our Texas members or something.

Mods: Please don't lock the post yet! I'll update the title with "SOLD" and bump it one last time when all of them ship. Two are taking a few more days before I can close out

All I've got at this point that I personally think is worth reselling is one E7280. It's the 12" version of the 7480s, and spec'd very similarly, exact same processor, comparison of the two is here.

I refurb'd it back in January to be a travel laptop, then I picked up some 2017/2018 touchbar Macs that're defective in February (they have a sleep mode kernel panic crash, Apple really needs to recall, but ...), and got laid off in March.

Anyway, major differences between that 7280 and the 7480s above:
    • Lighter
    • Smaller screen
    • Only 1 DIMM slot, and I don't have any 32 GB DIMMs, so only has 16 GB RAM loaded
    • No backlit keyboard; you could install one, but keyboard replacement requires pulling the mainboard and it wasn't that important to me
    • Has the cheaper, non-HELLO-compatible webcam, and has a nice sliding webcam cover installed
I need money more than this laptop. It's not part of the sale items above, but I'd let it go with a power brick, loaded with 16GB of RAM, for $120. It's in exceptional condition, in my opinion. I'd clean it up and wipe before shipping.

I bought two shifty laptops and it was less than a lousy breakfast I had in Denver at the Urban Farmer last Sunday.

I just seen that in my haste each day trying to keep up with pages of things I missed, I posted up in the wrong thread thanking the folks on this thread. I have been overwhelmed with a lot of things as of late but again I am very grateful and prepared to help and will try to keep up with the ‘Cru that never sleeps'

This next month is going to be crazy trying to get another surgery in and move all our stuff so I am going to be falling way behind.

I just need to stay under constant load. I'm one of those effed up people who, if I'm not overloaded, I don't function. The second I drop down into 75-80% load, I'm less productive. At 50% or less I literally get depressed. And it sucks. So I stay busy with anything I can.

I do need to finish clearing house though, and eventually get a job. Sometime before EOY/'24. I've been slaving to make other people rich for the last 30 years as an integral cog in the wheel. I've been leaning into the thought of something with an education/NPO slant to it, so I'm actually leveraging a lifetime of multi-industry experience and dumping into younger people's heads. Even better if something part time, mornings 4-6 hours a day, tech/security (physical or digital or both) oriented. One where I don't need to do paperwork or own the business. Maybe I just need to line up short-term consulting gigs, work for a few weeks at a time, then hunt out the next gig.

Much appreciated for sure. I really did not realize I guess what the hell I got myself into. LOL

There are many trips to/from Co/Az required for different things with her mother in AZ and my medical things are I believe in good hands so want to complete everything in AZ. Looking forward to complaining about snow in the future. No I am not, really

Hey, I take y’alls money just as seriously as my own. No time for games. Appreciate the positive feedback!

Most of these went out in boxes specifically purchased for laptops. Only exceptions were an irregular box that had no peripherals, and one multi-pack. It’s worth the extra $15/ea if it saves a damage claim, leaving one or both of us being inconvenienced, eh?

These laptops are a little older, but in really damn good condition. It would’ve been a complete waste to not put some more years on them.
