This question is for anyone that has towed a TT with both the 2.5 and 3.0 Gen Tundra.

I currently have a 2019 Platinum and I'm considering buying an F150 or a Tundra for better payload. I had a 26ft (bumper to hitch) 5k lb (dry) TT and recently traded for a 29ft 5.5k. The hitch weights are 700 and 750 loaded.

My truck pulls them both great but I'm bumping up against the payload and want to be able to carry more in the truck.

My concern is the reports I constantly read about people needing/adding aftermarket suspension assistance on the F150 and 3.0 Tundra at these weights. I use a Fastway E2 on my truck, but even without the WDH it's pretty level.

I would be majorly disappointed if I dropped the cash and traded only to need airbags or other aftermarket suspension gadgets to level the truck.

    What is your experience please?

Can't help you on the Gen III but can say that creative loading of the trailer helps. It took me a while to make the wife understand my tool box got packed under the rear dinette seat instead of the front passthru for travel. As soon as we set up, things get put where we like them. A CM rear seat set weighs 114 pounds so being just the two of us, they stay home.

I'd rather drive a slightly overloaded Gen 2.5 than an underloaded Ford.

I'd rather not make the whole loading and unloading the camper more work to take 50 pounds off the hitch. But I get your point. How hard is it to remove that back seat?

Easy. 17 & 14 sockets. The 60% seat is about 70# so help is a good idea. We are getting ready to head south and our seats sit right in front of the fireplace that isn't going to be used for 7 months.

I made a false floor to go over the foot wells from 2x4s and 1/4" ply. Other than the jack sticking above the floor it's large and flat. My telescope rides back there.
