Sorry Jim. GM just doesn't offer what I want at the moment. I was a little shocked it turned out to be a Ford.

They surprised me. I do have a feeling some 315's will end up on the back axle and 305's on the front. 275's seem small. I had them on my Firehawk with a third less power and they spun...like a lot.

    Oh damn. That's awesome.

If I ever do an exhaust on the Ferd it'll probably be a Roush. They are supposed to be top tier quality and factory endorsed.

If you don't mind, tag me when you do a photo dump. I'd hate to miss it. You landed a sweet ride!

Will do. I'm keeping this thread open for all the other members and what they want for their retirement vehicle.

This has been a wild ride. Last Ford I owned was an 1980's Escort. Took a lot of advice from people that own Shelby cars and half said they would go with something more street able and capable (common). Not sure if you ever checked out a Shelby 5.2L or 5.8L engine replacement...but that will make a grown man cry. Coyote engine...not so bad.

I never really looked at the mustangs since about 2013. I had given up on muscle and got a WRX instead. Since then I've always drooled over the challengers, but the death of the V8s was also the end of my interest.

I wasn't a fan of the Mustang either until 2015 with the IRS introduction. The older Cobras had IRS as well, but wasn't a fan of those either. Driving a live rear axle car with 662 hp and another 710 Hp with IRS in the same couple weeks was eye opening.

My uncle gifted us his 82? Ford Escort wagon when my sis and I were still in university. Was an auto, and I think it had around 60ish hp. My sis and my mom were almost killed after my sis tried to pass some cars on a two lane Hwy. That POS had cemented my decision to never ever buy a Ford. Timing belt went twice (my uncle had never changed it), and after it snapped the first time, then the water pump seized causing it break. I did end up buying two early Ford Broncos after I was married, but sold one and scrapped the other. Wasn’t particularly impressed with them either (302/auto/4.11 gears). At 60-65 mph, that little V8 was screaming at 3K rpm. Not fun after a while on the Hwy. I will say, if I were to get a modern pony car/muscle car, it would be the Mustang. Best looking of the bunch IMHO. Congrats!

    I highly recommend the SC.

Look around...might go with a big brake kit and a GT Premium with a whipple already installed. I almost went this route.

So, what's the difference between the GT Premium w/SC and the Dark Horse???

Is the big brake kit an OE add-on that you can opt for at the time of submitting a build or 'aftermarket' SVT add on???

I think it's important for me to now declare your first course of action as you enter retirement

It has been deemed that you should tour the US (and parts of Canada) in your newly acquired retirement ride; making stops in the various regions represented by contributors of this thread, so we can all get a sample of what true retirement life is all about...

Handling package and if you go with the standard transmission the DH has the tremec. HP ratings are a little more on the DH.

Hmmmm not a bad idea. I do like the dark horse for the predator motor rods and the better Tremec trans. I got plenty of thinking to do before spring comes thats for sure.

The nice thing is I will not have to pay labor to get the blower put on so that saves me a good amount of money. A GT specd out the way i want would be only 3K less than the Dark Horse

With the price of lumber you might have been money ahead to buy ramps or rent a trailer. :spending:

    Nope. Race ramps are spendy.
