I'm looking to upgrade the head unit in my 07 tundra. The oem unit is failing and it is finally annoying me enough to spend some money.

I've been searching here and Crutchfield. Really looking at the Alpine 670 or 407. But, don't know a lot about audio stuff. I was wondering if places like Crutchfield do black friday sales and if it's worth waiting another 2 months. Or if the low end units don't really go on sale and I should just buy now.

Thanks for any help guys. This place has been invaluable over the years!

Crutchfield will certainly run some black Friday and cyber Monday deals but they've got some stuff marked down right now too. I'd say it's pretty unlikely there'll be drastic price cuts to already on sale things, and for things not on sale, it's anybody's guess what'll go on sale. That said, it's also unlikely prices will go up so it wouldn't hurt to wait, but if there's something you've got your eyes on, i.e. Alpine iLX 407 (currently $150 off on Crutchfield) it wouldn't be a terrible time to buy. For the iLX-670 I'd guess there'll maybe be a $50 discount come Black Friday but again, hard to say.

FYI, they are extremely helpful when you chat with them and they email you a transcript of chat for reference. Customer service is great.

Thanks to those who gave advice. I decided to just go ahead and buy.

So, I hit up Crutchfield and got an Alpine ilx-670. Paid the extra $27 for them to pre wire the harness. And, honestly it went in so easy. I was a little nervous at first. Having never done anything-but plenty of electrical and mechanic experience. The hardest part was running the mic wire from the top of the windshield down and under the dash. Which also wasn't really that hard. While I was at it, installed the Masters tailgate handle backup camera and a usb plug.

Only been about a week and have been enjoying the receiver. Easy to use, connects to my phone for pandora very easily. And the backup camera is a pretty nice addition.

    The backup camera I used:

    The usb plug:

Pic of the radio installed-sorry for the dust. I live in a desert, so it's pretty much impossible to keep anything clean.

Nice choice and looks good! Glad to hear you're enjoying it and the backup cam!
