I just bought this truck, 2021 platitum with 45k on it. Did an oil change today. Then starts it and hear this noise, almost like knocking. Is it normal for this motor to idle loud? Drove fine. No CEL. Everything seems and look normal. For some reason i dont remember this noise from my 2017 sequoia before. Can someone watch the short clip i recorded and see if it’s something i should be concern with? Instill have the powertrain warranty on it.

Seems louder on the passenger side of the engine. It’s not the injectors firing ticking sound. But the more like, knock knock knock sounds i’m concern about.

not sure what oil brand and grade previous owner used. Carfax showed oil change at dealership. I just put in 5w30 pennzoil ultra platinum today, oem filter.

Timing chain, hydraulic lifter engines are fairly noisy to begin with. Doesn't sound worrying to me, but maybe a little noisier than expected. Hard to judge audio for sure from a cell phone recording compressed and uploaded to YouTube, then replayed through my crappy speakers.

Possibly a noisy lifter than has bled down. Try letting the engine warm up completely, then hold 1500 RPM for 2 minutes, then hold 2000 RPM for another 2 minutes. See if that quiets things down.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try it tonight after work. This morning i started it cold and there were no noise. After it warmed up some, 5mins+ running, i can hear it again. It was low but can tell it’s there. Had to leave for work so i didnt keep at it.
