    Hey Guys,

Looking at buying an 08 Crewmax, just about everything is good *except* the driver's side rear cab/body mount. The frame was changed by Toyota, but the mount on the cab side has rotted out. What am I looking at for a fix?

    Pics attached.

you can get a new cab mount from DRT - it is a cab mount relocate. They chop off the old ones and reweld new ones on. I had mine installed on both sides for 800.

That doesn't fix the body though unless I'm missing something?

OP that looks like a bitch. Sheet metal sucks to weld but you could put a plate in there and weld it to the body, would be a pain in the ass to do well but possible. I'd ask a shop if they can do sheet metal repair and welding. I had a body mount like that on an old pickup and cut it out and welded in a custom made section.

Your not missing anything. Chances are the mount is fine but it looks like the cab is what rusted all around the cab mount hole. Must have had a water leak and that is the lowest spot.

Rotted cab corners are the bane of trucks owned/operated east of the dry-line...2nd only to road salt rot.
What does the rest of the inside cab floor/corners look like. As noted, it's possible to cut out a rotted corner and weld in a new one, but you gotta ask whether it rotted from the inside out or vice versa. Knowing that is the key to fixing it right.

Truck is clean clean except for this spot. Frame had been previously replaced under warranty by Toyota, and box replaced by current owner. Only other spot of rust is the other rear cab mount. Same deal, but salvageable as it sits now. This mount (perhaps there's a better word for it, but I can't find it) is the only serious issue with this truck.

You could get the part(s) needed from a junkyard. The cab mount on a tundra that rolled would most likely be good. It looks like it's the lower part while the actual floorboard is good. If it was me I would unbolt the cab and try to lift it just far enough to cut all the bad away. Once the bad stuff is gone I would drill holes through the good floor and do plug welds to the replacement cab mount. It's possible Toyota may sell that piece of metal separately but it could be a part of the floor and expensive. Unfortunately you have to get in there and remove the rust to see what's good and what isn't. If you use your truck on a regular basis you don't want to start the job and then stop while you look for parts. That's why the junkyard option is good if you can find one. Plus you can see exactly how it fits together and possibly also get things like the bolts and frame part of the mount.

Hey OP what did you end up doing to remedy this? I am having the same issue 2011 tundra cab body rotted at the cab mount rear drivers corner.
