I should've mentioned that white dot for the crank and the actual T timing marks

however, at TDC, the cam pulley marks should aline with the mark just to the left of the T as mine are in the pictures in my previous post

Either method confirms you are properly aligned

here's pictures of mine when I advanced the crank from TDC to the white dot

    IMG_8327.jpg
    IMG_8326.jpg IMG_8325.jpg

and as I told the OP, I had already rotated the crank twice just as he had done so my marks on the timing belt are no longer at the timing marks on the truck. And it would take hundreds of turns before The belt matches up again.

if you turn the crank and follow the marks on the belt you will see it takes several more turns for the belt to make a full pass

Thanks Weagle. That makes me feel so much better. For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what was going on and I was so worried I destroy the engine. I guess I’m just gonna test everything again. Your pictures are really helpful.

Did a few more 2x rotations and marks look good. Annoying that the lines on the timing belt move. Think I’m good now thanks to your helpIMG_5811.jpg IMG_5812.jpg IMG_5813.jpg IMG_5814.jpg

Your timing marks are very different from mine. But I believe you said you turned it over manually twice, so there is no contact and I believe you are good to go

Be sure you route the crank sensor wire behind the radiator fan bracket before you bolt it down.

it should be behind that bracket but outside of the timing belt area. it will be outside of the timing belt cover once that is installed and thereby protected from the timing belt and then protected from the serpentine belt, etc. when it's routed behind the fan bracket

if they get my eye straightened out, I'm going to try to type up written step-by-step instructions that match up with the AA Auto videos. Not extremely detailed, but just what order for the disassembly and reassembly of components and what bolts or nuts

One thing he did not do was specifically point out that sensor wire should be behind the bracket when you install it he just said to make sure it's not bound or caught by the bracket and the video is not very close up for you to observe him routing it

The video is great to watch first. Then to refer to when it gets a little confusing. But for me when I actually get ready to do it I want written step-by-step instructions. And include a few gotchas and warnings based on me doing it fully or partially 4 or 5 times in the last two months haha

ps i'm about to wrap up. That AC compressor is a bitch. And I didn't even totally remove it. That little screw on the compressor that has the ground wire for the AC is also a PITA

Thanks. I believe I routed it correctly. At first I was not behind the bracket because there is a little divot there that made me think the wire followed that path and I thought I would pinch the wire with the bracket. But a close inspection shows a space behind the bracket for the wire. I am rocking the V6

Manual V6 4wd is dope. Like a more modern and capable T100.

I didn't realize you had a six cylinder. So yours may be different.
