    Simmer down their skillet!

Knowing you have 10 gallons in reserve may save you one day. My light kicks on at 30 gallons and I have eight gallons in reserve. The reason Toyota does this is because of the length of the tank the fuel pump can become non-submerged with less than five gallons left and begin to heat up. It doesn't mean it is going to burn out on you, but if it was unsubmerged every time you ran the tank down it would burn up early. Know this if you need to push it you can.

I did a trip to Arizona to visit my patent attorney from Texas. I pushed it to over 620 miles on the tank. When I filled up I only had three gallons left. I drove 651 miles on that tank and only had 3 gallons left. Bottom line it is done for a reason and be grateful those fuel pumps are over $1,000 just for the part!
