I figured its time for a build thread of my 2011 Crown Vic.

Earlier this summer I was poking around autotempest just looking at cars just seeing what was out there, not really looking to buy anything. I set the search to V8, manual, RWD, under $20k. It was July 4th that I found the car I would eventually buy. I sent a link to my gf of this 2011 Crown Vic I found. She asked "are you gonna buy it?" I said, no, I don't think I should. Fast forward 2 weeks and it popped up on autotempest again. I said fuck it and got a loan. A week later and me and the boys loaded up and drove to CO springs to pick it up and drive back to Amarillo.

    So the car has:
    78k miles and 165 idle hours. (1 idle hour = 30ish miles)
New edge mustang procharger kit w/custom intercooler piping
    Haltech elite 2500 ECU
    Kooks headers w/full dual exhaust
    Tremec T56 (TR6060) transmission
McLeod super streetpro clutch and flywheel
    Heinous billet rear control arms
Bigger front and rear sway bars
Upgraded fuel pump and injectors (unknown brand)
3.73 Ford racing gears with trak-loc.
    Pioneer deck w/10" sub.

Once we got on the road the car feels solid. Shifts are fantastic, plenty of power, absolute blast to drive.

It's not without its flaws though. PO said the A/C squeals sometimes, and I didn't want the belt breaking on the way home so I was windows down all the way home. In July. Yeah, it was hot. And we hit stop and go traffic in CO springs and Pueblo. Ugh. Fortunately it was only 95.

It was in CO springs that a major problem reared its head. I downshifted to 3rd to see what it could do. At around 4k rpm it just fell flat on face, and I had no throttle input as the car idled at 2k. I limped to the side of the highway and popped the hood. Everything looked fine so I restarted the car. Everything was fine so we took off. Note to self: don't do that again.

It was around this time I noticed the idle would oscillate from 600 to 1200. Huh. That's weird.

We made it back to Amarillo no worse for wear. I noticed a lot of rubber on the pass head and hood. The tensioner has decided to shit itself. I dropped the car off at my buddies shop. Two weeks and $850 later I have a new tensioner and 3 new pulleys. The idle is fine now, A/C still squeals. New belt and a filter that fits better are on order.

Me and @JakeJake checked the AC with guages yesterday and saw the pulley skipping on the compressor. So it needs a new clutch or compressor.

I called haltech and all I need to connect to the ecu is a usb-a to usb-a and a laptop. 15' cable is ordered so I can do some data logging and re-tune it.

This thing absolutely rips. It's just such a blast to drive, and makes all the right noises. The blow off valve will let excess boost off if you're just tooling around. The exhaust sounds amazing. Not too loud, not too quiet. PO told the exhaust dude to make it sound like a mustang. It gets looks everytime I take it out. Mainly WTF looks because, well, Crown Vics shouldn't make those noises. It's a perfect sleeper.

So that's where it sits now. No real plans besides coilovers and any other handling parts I can get my grubby dorito dust covered hands on. Feel free to leave any questions, comments, or concerns! Here's a few videos as well.

I thought 1 idle hour Ford counts as 45 miles? Still, stupid low idle hours you have there. I’m on several CVPI fb groups. Lots of cool ones there.
What do you think ur pushing out now?

    Awesome car man. Love it

I just say 30 to make it easy to math.

PO had it dyno'd and it put down 400hp/415lb-ft. Once I get it tuned right I'll have it dyno'd again, then possibly try on e85.

Also, I'm on the crown vic FB page. Maybe the main one?

    Screenshot_20240824_172250_Adblock Browser.jpg

I had to join the new edge mustang page to get info on the motor and tune. I use the Vic page for standard info. I'm kinda up shit creek on tranny info unless I join a 5th gen camaro page. I'm not joing a dodge challenger/charger page. No 320 credit score activities for me thank you.

Very cool! The car sounds surprisingly quiet enough. Looks like it would be a hoot to drive :)

This looks like sooooo much fun. Once switching to E85/injectors and tune...bet that CV will have a serious traction problem.

I'm pretty sure it's E85 ready; not sure if it has a tune ready though. My big problem is the people who have a dyno in my area don't do tuning. I'll have to make a trip to ABQ or OKC. But yeah, wider rubber is definitely in my future. I fell behind on your retirement vehicle thread. Did you end up getting something yet?

I forgot to add, I got to peek inside the ECU a little bit. It's giving a few DTCs.

I have no clue what any of it means. I also have another major problem. The ECU is password protected from making any changes. PO doesn't have it, and the shop that did the install is closed for good. Haltech FB says I have to start from scratch. I need to call Haltech and see what the deal is.

I went by my buddy's shop yesterday to chat with them about it. With this new info they're gonna dig into and have their tuning guy(who doesn't do Haltechs, but knows tuning) look at it next Saturday. They're also gonna have Haltech remote in and see what they can find. I'm way outta my league at this point.

Let me check who the guys in Dumas use. They have pretty high HP drag cars though. Doubt they dyno.

Yep, I went with a Mustang Roush Stg 3. I can understand the traction problem....275's don't grab for nothing. Lotta car to handle.

Do you know if the prior owner was running methanol injection? That can really wreak havoc on the wideband sensor.

Very nice! My 235s get angry unless pointed straight ahead at anything more than half throttle.

None that I've seen. I did see Haltech sells a wideband o2 for about $170, but I don't know if it's the one I need. They also sell a DBW throttle pedal, but again, I'm not sure if it would have to be added into the ECU, etc, etc.

I wanted to do this to the '07 i had except without the manual trans. I bought a vortech supercharger and a lot of the parts, but i never did it since the car was a daily.

From what i remember 400whp was about the max people recommended on a stock modular. Kind of a bummer since they aren't cheap to build.
