What's everyone using for Black Lug Nuts?

I currently am using those little black caps that go over the factory lugs on my 2.5gen Trd Off-Road. They look fine, but i lost one and would rather move to black lugs than caps.

Painted lugs seem like they might chip when taking wheels on/off? That an issue or is the paint tough enough that its not an issue?

I saw these were mentioned on another thread as an electroplated lug instead of painted

I also found, what i think is the oem option

I got these 2 years ago, holding up well so far through 2 seasons worth of summer\winter tire swaps and tire rotations and I'm not that careful when taking the lugs on\off.

Are the OEM a gloss or matte black? I have gloss black TSS rims, just want to make sure the OEM are also gloss.

They're more glossy than matte, depends on how clean you keep them...mine are usually coated in layer of dirt/ dust, so looks good with my matte wheels, lol

I'm 62, been driving since I was 15. I've heard damned near every excuse for having to replace a part for one reason or another.
But I have never, ever heard of 'swollen lugnuts' as an excuse?!? WTF?
Please go back, get that person to call me. good grief...

Many new cars use cheap pot metal lug nuts that have a thin stainless cap over the cheap metal. Once corrosion sets in the caps swell making it impossible to fit the lug wrench or socket over them.

I bought the ones DT offers but they're all scratched. I don't know how you could get any that don't scratch considering they'll get hit with 100+ ft/lbs torque.

There are many posts on this subject. I only use these now because they are electroplated and look amazing.

I ended up ordering OEM black lug nuts while they are on sale, ended up with free shipping since my order was over $75. It was about $12 a wheel for the lug nuts. If they don’t hold up I’ll try the aftermarket ones posted above next.

Toyota of Orange! They are my local dealership. I have learned for anything besides the free stuff I get with the Toyota Care, I will not be going there. Their prices (on normal stuff at the parts store) are stupid high, too.

Yeah, agree. But i have heard swollen lug nuts before. I don't believe it's a real thing. Probably corrosion or galling.

My dealership wants $12 per NUT! Just the regular chrome ones too.

I found a set of black ones on Amazon for $65.

maybe, swoken nuts is a physical condition. metallurgical incompatibilty is different, cheap crap is the the correct assessment.

A quick update to my suggestion:
I did some work on the truck this past weekend which involved taking the wheels off (and actually getting a good look at the lugnuts), I would suggest not getting the Amazon ones I linked. While they were still fine as far as lugnuts go, but there was definitely minor surface rust where the socket had rubbed the paint off. Practically good, superficially not so much.
