It would be nice if marketplace was set up in a way that allowed more filters to find exactly what your looking for, you could find items closest to farthest by zipcode, and sold items didn't linger for months after no longer available. I don't have the skills but I bet someone eles on here does. I would also bet college, high school, or community schools have computer classes that would do such a thing for class project or intern type experience. Im computer illiterate, but guessing these changes would be time consuming hense the classroom approach. Or not be cheap like me and pay someone

You do know you can search this site and can also limit the search to specific forums...such as the marketplace. It works well and allows you to find what you want on any of the forums. And once mods know an item is sold/no longer available, they lock the thread.....you will see that lock icon on such posts now in the marketplace.

Yeah... you have some good ideas but I think you are searching incorrectly. Rarely are there enough items available to warrant all you are suggesting, especially once you have a few filters applied.

You can also post a WTB post (once you meet BST requirements) and that also helps get awareness to what you want. A lot of folks have parts that aren't listed too. So by you posting what you want, where you are located, and rough cost, I have personally found that you find what you want really fast.

A lot of these forums are just software that the owners have paid for. It's not a question of having the skills or not, because even if you did and if the vendor was willing to share the source code (which wouldn't happen), you'd be editing the code for a product that some forum software company sells.

Also, please note: When it’s been six (6) months with no activity on a marketplace these, we (if we remember) to lock it up.

    Tundras.com Statute, section A; (1) 2, 15:

In order to reduce confusion and clutter, threads will be locked after 6 months of inactivity.“

Yep. I usually check each sub-forum in the marketplace every few days and lock anything over the 6 month mark.

Just furthers my point that this site is just forum software the owners paid for. Automating stuff like this would be pretty easy to do in SQL if the database were accessible.

    * I build and manage similar websites for a living - and I am not in any way affiliated with the back end of this website (nor do I care to be), but do things like this on my websites.

Trained with Oracle SQL, but in my role I have several Microsoft SQL database servers.
