Making a choice that betters yourself has nothing to do with being an imposter. Even for someone who doesn't have a drinking problem this is a huge conscious effort on your part. And one that will resonate with your kids as they see you manage life without vices.

Vices are terrible, I've kicked many in my life. Sweets are the last think I need to cut out..

I'm pretty sure all my teeth are sweet. My cravings are always there for the sweets. Never had a cavity though. Not bad for a sugar fiend.

    Unbelievable.
I've had many cavities and crowns, I don't remember if I've had a root canal or not

Venting: or maybe it's a rant. I don't know. I deal with a fair bit of seasonal depression every year. I don't know what triggers it and I don't know why. It's not to the point where I'm going to do something drastic or anything like that, but it's enough to just ruin things for me. I've consciously tried to ignore any negative things the past few years around this time, but there's always something. It started this year about 3 weeks ago with my boss telling me, "since Christmas is on a Wednesday we've decided to close for the week." Ok.... whats the catch? It's not paid unless you use vacation time. (we have a use it or get paid out at the end of each year system. Jan 1, it all resets.) This would have been lovely to know months ago since we are encouraged to use all of our vacation time every year. So I get this last week off and a couple days are unpaid because I've used my time for the year. Irritating. But I love my job and everything about it. So, we work a 4 / 40 schedule, the way everything works out I have had 10 days off in a row. Awesome! Let's take the negatives of this and make them positive. 10 days off rules! Then it decides to rain every single freaking day except for Christmas. Everything I do is largely outdoor based. Mountain bikes, dirtbikes, hiking, hell even working on my property. All things I enjoy, but not in the rain. Fast forward to Christmas morning. We go to my brother in laws house for breakfast with my wife's side of the family, where just about everyone is sick. No one said a thing. Likely because they know I wouldn't show up if I had known. So, I'm there, visibly irritated because I'm crammed in this small house with 15 other people and I have this huge fear of getting sick. I don't ever get sick, I avoid it like the plague... I can count on one hand how many times I've had a cold in the last 15 years and that includes when I got covid in 2022. So of course by that night I can already feel the scratchy throat and now I have a full blown cold. And we all know the male version of a cold is like you're dying. LOL. Pretty bummed and ready to be back at work. What a waste of 10 days off. I did nothing productive except for sit around, which drove me crazy. At least before I got sick I was riding the Peloton every day. Sorry, just had to get this off my chest.

Man, that bites. Only suggestion I have would be to get one indoor hobby you enjoy that can be done while under the weather. Video game, crosswords, reloading if you shoot much, darts in the garage, vigorous masterbating, etc. just so you have something in reserve for this kind of situation.

I woke up with the scratchy throat too. Sometimes you just need to take it on the chin for a few days and enjoy the time to actually rest. Binge some shows, game like Adam said, find shit to do inside the house.

Are you in rain soaked NorCal?

Maybe a move to a warmer and sunnier climate is what your soul needs.
Plus that would keep you away from those sickly folks

Very strong winds are on their way tonight and through tomorrow, and blowing dust also in the forecast. One last dog walk. Still calm and a few lenticular clouds. Birds are hitting the backyard pretty hard before the weather change.

How about if they're all fake and cost more than the corner dwellers make in a year?
