My JVC head unit came in from Crutchfield. Planning to install it this week. Also looking to add a backup camera and discovered the threads on @daveeasa 's DIR harness. Contacted him and he's a little backed up right now. Is there anyone here that ordered one of his DIR kits, but never got around to using it and wants to sell it? Once I do this to the 02 AC, my dad will probably want the same done to his 03 AC.

Very cool stuff. It's a plug-and-play way to tap into your reverse light wiring to 1) provide power for the backup camera, and 2) kill the license plate lights when in reverse.

I mounted my camera in the tailgate handle so the license plate lights don’t affect my view. If using a plate frame mount, that would be a sweet harness

It is! It's a quality piece, Dave is really meticulous with his work. One of the only vendors I've found who actually takes more care in his wiring than I could/would do myself.

I take it you've seen this also, eh. May help, if not.

Honestly, the Master Tailgaters camera-based handles is a no-brainer. They have them in black, or ready-to-paint if you wanted to paint match. I know you can technically snake the camera wires thru a pre-existing opening in the tailgate, but I'd probably prefer to have a bulkhead I can plug/play to make tailgate removal a no-brainer. I would love to get to that some day, where I drill an additional hole in to the jamb of the tailgate, mount a weatherproof wiring cup there, and install. This would be such a cool little DIY kit to manufacture, if Master Tailgaters ever wanted something totally f'n awesome as an add-on. But in the absence of such a thing, I wonder if there's an OEM option from one of the newer Tundra/Tacomas someone could repurpose? Surely something must exist which would require basic soldering to adapt? @empty_lord is this something you've maybe tinkered with for your truck yet?

Yep, that's why I checked with Dave and then the forum here.

Prices on the MT website for a black primed handle are currently an reasonable $152.10, but I just dropped nearly $200 on the JVC head unit. There's an Amazon storefront with a convincing look similar the MT website, but the price for the same handle is about half that at $84.99. I'd like to think that's the "power of Amazon", but most folks here refer to it as scAmazon for a reason.[/QUOTE]

I ordered 5100s for the rear today. Tire Rack (of all places) sells them. Being that my dealer is an authorized Tire Rack vendor, I get to buy them at the wholesale price of $92.93 each.

So this is not a huge one at all, but one knocked off the list nevertheless. Replaced the foam finger things in the cupholders. I mean, they were starting to wear out after a mere 18 years......

Replaced them with ones I printed in TPU. Nice thing about TPU is you can get it in various 'floppyness'. I used 95 and did a 10 percent infill to give stiffness with still a fair amount of flexibility, but quite a bit more hold than the original fingers. Got the file off Thingaverse and printed on a textured bed to give that textured finish. Had to print SLOW though. Each one took about 4 hours or so, but it's 'fire and forget'. Set it off and then watch some telly.

I have a spare master tailgater camera handle, swapped to the "metal" version which honestly feels and looks the same as the plastic.

I added a quick disconnect so I could take my tailgate off if I wanted to but that was kinda silly overkill as I never have.

I ran it out through an existing hole and into the bed at the spot where the spare tire tool inserts, still room to get the tool in and makes dual use of the slot. Might be nice with a real grommet there but I have it in loom so it's all good for now. Also present is my tailgate lock harness, though I've disconnected and capped it b/c that thing was a total POS.

Wife and I dug our Tundra out, cleared off the snow, got the doors open, and got the snow that blew in through the slightly open windows out! SMH. Boy did I ever screw up! Rolled the windows down a bit over summer to let out hot air, depending on the overhanging "vent window" shades to keep out rain (which those do). Big snowstorm up here blew snow in!

Not terrible, we got it mostly out....battery dead and with all the ice I'm afraid to try and get the hood up......so we covered the cab with a tarp and tied it all down. Should be good till things warm up.

Are you describing the headlights and how the blinker/headlight line doesn’t line up with the fender and hood lines? That’s like waaaay off.

Drove to the neighboring water hole dirt parking lot and decided to exercise my 4WD HI and LO gears going back and forth and turning in circles. Neighborhood kids thought I was weird.
